We planted a magnolia tree last year and we noticed a lot of black spots on almost all of the leaves.
I am assuming fungus, but wondering what it is and how we treat it.
We are in East Tx if that matters.

Looks like fungus from too much rain: https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/magnolia-leaf-spots

173 years later you will laugh at this fungus.

Make sure you buy Southern Magnolias and Saucer Magnolias. They'll be your friends for generations.

This is a southern oak. Should we just buy some generic fungicide from Lowe's and treat the leaves?

That's not an oak. Looks like southern magnolia. Spots on top of leaf appear to be algal leaf spot.
