I've had my share of Wolf Brand Chili, although I now make it from a McCormick's powder packet and then adding to it from there based on my own version and ratio of ingredients (yes, must have 2 kinds of beans, diced tomatoes, over rice, topped with Fritos - flame away). As a kid it was over saltines topped with Fritos, either way works for me, I have great chili memories
But, when talking Wolf Brand, all I remember is the gristle-loaded, concession-stand, stuff we had 50 years ago. Only good for emergency hot dog toppings. If another version of canned chili existed, I never knew about it.

I hear East Texas folks just use the garden hose in the back yard. Sometimes the front yard.

I'm surprised this post is four years old! Time gets away from you. I'm down in Costa Rica and normal chili powder can't be found anywhere. Fresh jalapenos here don't have good flavor and serranos, poblanos, anaheims can't be found. So far, I can't find tomatillos either. New Mexico style green chili is going to be hard to make down here.

There area variety of Peruvian and Caribbean chiis, but they tend to over hot and under flavored. However, I can get really good fresh dried chiles such as anchos, pasillas, chipotles, etc. They are a lot better than the bags of dried chiles found in grocery stores back home. I can also get ground chile arbole powder, but it's not the same as simple red or green chili powder from New Mexico.
