I hate the bump feed that came with it. PITA!

I hate bump feed heads as well. I have a different head that I think came from my Stihl dealer. Maybe it came from Lowe's.

Its basically a flat plastic disk with holes in the sides. You feed 3 precut pieces of trimmer line through the holes. They fold in half so its 6 lines that are cutting. The pieces are about 12in. The head came with some precut pieces but I bought a spool and cut my own.

After they break, stop and feed in 3 more lines. I use heavy line and usually only change once for my 1 acre yard. Zero headaches.

Been using a Stihl with bump feed for 22 years. What is the gripe? Wrap it right and do your edging properly and a spool should last several months. Takes less than 5 minutes to spool.

Another for Echo speed feed. It will change your life.

I have the stihl kombi system with multiple attachments and a small yard. I don't use the string trimmer attachment that much, so when I add more string every couple years I have to relearn how to do it. It takes me more than 5 minutes. I've thought about changing heads as well.
