This place is located in Montgomery and I'm being taken for a tour for my bday because I love wolves. Has anyone here ever visited it? They also have a camping option which I may take my sons.

I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight or opinions on this place

I've been there but it's been about 10 yrs ago. Interesting place. Wolves behind fence, we petted one friendly one. Lots of info, good day trip.

Went there earlier this year actually.

Relatively small place, fairly limited with what you can do, but it was worth it. Like you, I am a huge fan of wolves.

Didn't get to touch or pet any, but it was cool seeing the staff interact with them.

Staff is almost all volunteers, and most em are pretty crunchy, but they do share a passion for the animals.

My 18 month old son was running around (behind the double fence obviously) but he was the litmus test to which ones were still wild at heart. Some glanced up when he came by, and some were basically stalking him.

Supposed to be moving to a much bigger location soon near Navasota, and we will definitely go check it out whenever they do.

Unrelated, except for the coolness of wolves. I was at the WNC Nature Center in Asheville. It was early morning, just one other couple there. It was a foggy, misty type day. Far along the path there are grey wolves, red wolves, coyotes, a variety of foxes. We were standing right by the big grey wolves and in the distance you could hear a fire engine siren....then the grey wolves started howling, then the reds then everybody else joined in. It was awesome, creepy, cool and they went on for 5 minutes. I was so mesmerized at how cool it was I did not think about trying to record on my phone until the last second.

I went there a few weeks ago with my son Cub Scout pack. It is small place with animals in cages. Some of their animals will hide, some will come up to the fence. You will be kept behind two layers of fencing. Most of their animals are wolf dogs, they have maybe two wolves, and one full dog.

All that said, we had a great time there. The staff who walked us around was very knowledgeable and gave us the backstory on every animal.

Don't turn around or park in the private roads.

I'll be thrilled when that place moves to Grimes County.

I am actually waiting for them to move to the new larger sanctuary as I really want to take my daughter. She is 13 and has a passion for animals. She is not the smartest sandwich in the picnic basket but she has a desire to work for a large zoo one day and is already working with counselors to finger out what she should be taking as well as looking forward to community college then hopefully Aggieland after that.

I did a paper in College on ref wolves. They are almost extinct and I didnt think WNC had any reds. Interesting

Went there years ago, took the kids etc., first time I'd ever seen a Wolf up close like that. Hard to believe how big they are compared to a dog.

Its been well over 5 years ago now, but it was a cool experience.
