I go 2-3 times a year near Port A, but would like to start going a little more often and the Galveston area is a lot closer. Anyone know of any good kayak launch sites and fishing areas around there? Thanks.

Get you a copy of Ray Crawford's "Wade and Kayak Fishing on Galveston Bays and Surrounding Areas" but be prepared to fork over some coin. He has three books (the others cover the Coastal Bend and the Upper Texas coast) and I think all are long out of print. These books show places to fish, where you can park, the type of area (sandy, muddy, etc.) and have aerial pics and maps. I have all three and they have saved me a ton of money not having to drive around and look for places. A great resource for kayak fishing folks.

I use to launch at Galveston Bait and Tackle at the bottom of the causeway. Can get bait too if ur into it.

Someone probably has the link to the google maps with every launch point on the coast.

I would also look at launching at Watermans and/or 103rd.

Fish the surf off High Island in October for bull reds. Go on a calm day and anchor your kayak up where you see pogies popping.

Thanks for the tips! Sounds like I should get one of those maps, but the place near Louis bait camp looks like a good place to start.

Another vote for the bay side of Jamaica Beach. One of my favorite places to fish from a kayak.

Offatts is another area that I have had success in. Find the drainages when the tide is moving.

Anahuac Wildlife refuge is good in colder Months. Find the oyster beds and the fish won't be far behind.

Yes-bay side of Jamaica Beach--there are 2 roads into Jamaica Beach from 3005--east & west sides of subdivision--both will take you to places you can launch.

End of Sportsmans Road is another.

Some fish the beach side in the summer when water flat and trout schools are close.

State Park just before Jamaica Beach has access to good fishing areas..

The maps and or Google are good ideas

Watch the no parking signs very closely. Tickets are a major revenue generator for JB.

You can also launch off the bridge on the way to Harborwalk on the north side of Pierce
