Getting rid of my gas grill and about to invest in a pellet grill. Would love insight from people that already have one, and which brand is best. TIA

I've had great luck with my pellet grill from All Seasons Feeders.. It was a lot more value comparing other lines.

I have a Treager.

It works fine but.....

Early on the convection fan failed. Treager sent me a new one but I had to install it.

I'd look at Pit Boss and get one with an insulated shell.

They are very easy to use and low maintenance.

Here is a thread that was on here before.

I have had a RecTec for a couple of years now and couldn't be any happier.

That being said, there are several really good ones on the market now. I think it boils down to the differences between wall thickness and control units.

I've had a Pit Boss for a few months and like it very well. I do not have the insulated shell.

Have a Pit Boss going on a year and use it 3-4 times a week. Been an excellent grill and still looks new.

I really want one that is dependable and would last for many years. I don't mind spending the extra bucks for a good one. (Up to $1000). I see that some have removable ash trays and some don't. I could see how having one would be a benefit, but I've never had a pellet grill so I have no idea.

Weber just came out with their pellet grills. Looks like they will be competitive in the space.

We've had a Mak one star for 7 years. It's still in great shape and haven't had any problems. They are American made.

I bought a used GMG from another poster on here. Works great. Set it and forget it.

And yes, I still have my balls.

Pitts and Spitts and it's not even close for quality of the materials and the PID controller. They also have fantastic service and are locally made in Houston.

I've got a camp chef. It's great. Some of the best steaks I've ever made (although I have to sear them on the cast iron). I sear them then smoke around 250 until done. The smoke is noticeable and not overwhelming. Works perfect

+ 1 on the pit boss, I have the 800 series from lowes. It works great on smoking any meat and holds the temps within 5-6 degrees of selected temp. even in cold weather. Also you can remove the plate right above the burner and cook steaks over direct heat with a pretty big flame( I've had mine at 675 degrees). It was on sale for $399 ($100 off) and I bought a 10% off coupon from ebay for $1.50 (or for the military people lowes gives a 10% off to them) , then put it on my card for another 5% off (which I paid off on another transaction right then). Add a couple bags of pellets and the cover for it at same time and save the 15% on all of it. Overall this grill works great for whatever application you need it for and you can get bags of pellets really cheap from walmart.com shipped straight to your house for free.

I've got one ordered and cannot wait. The reviews have been outstanding so far. Weber is so superior to others I have no doubt they will make a blast in class pellet smoker. I've seen the (lack) of quality on Traeger and Green Mountain from friends. I know Rec Tec makes a good one, but Weber has always been great to me and my family.

Are you checking the temp with a digital thermometer? Mine only reads in 5 degree increments and according to the display it averages the selected temp but goes around 20-25 degrees above and below

I've just had the probe itself in the cooking area ( not stuck into a piece of meat) not touching anything, monitoring the inside temp. 1 last thing on the Pit Boss is the Warranty they offer ! !

My Traeger died on Thanksgiving morning (I discovered when I tried to turn it on in prep for smoking a turkey). I've been waiting for the Weber to get released so I can start reading some full reviews. The searing capability looks promising, which my Traeger was no good at.

I Have a Treager and a Pit Boss... the Treager tends to drain the grease better when doing briskets. But the Pit Boss was a lot cheaper... they cook the same. We bought the new Pit Boss for the ranch... I like that one the best, seems like more smoker settings. I would personally go for the cheaper one, Pit Boss

I have the same set up as well. Reverse seared steaks are the only way to go. You can't beat their price and customer service either. They now have a WiFi controller.
