I usually breakdown and debone the meat myself, but with the holiday week I just don't have time. Working between the galleria and memorial city.

Pete's fine meats? Anybody used them? What would you recommend? Seem expensive but don't mind paying for a good product.

B&W on Shepherd. Any suggestions or experience there?

Anybody else I should be considering?

TIA

Pete's is a no go. Super disappointed in their effort especially for the price.

If you can make it to Hempstead I recommend Arnold Deer Processing. It is one of the few places that will guarantee the deer you drop off is the deer you get back. They don't do regular dried sausage though, just buck sticks and simmer sausage. Their summer sausage is some of the best I've had.

Stanton's in Alvin does a great job.

I was pleased with B&W Meat Market on Shepard

I took mine in there the Tues after opening day and had meat in the freezer in 3 weeks.

I second this. Their hot boudin and spicy garlic sausage are fantastic. Lots of other flavors to choose from. I used them for several years until I started making my own sausage. Though I think I may drop a doe off there this year.

I did b&w several years ago and did not like it. I don't remember what it was that I didn't like, it has been too long. We have been using zummos for the last few years and have been pleased. They have a dropoff at i10 and Federal.

Another vote for B&W on Shepard. I would call ahead and see what the wait time is if you want any smoked sausage. I dropped mine off last year and it was a 6 week wait on the sausage so I just made two trips.

They also don't charge any extra if you want the ground venison mixed with beef or pork.

Their tamales are fantastic. Their sausage is not very special.

If you are going to go to Hempstead, mights as well drive 15 minutes further and go to the Bellville Meat Market.

Personally my favorite processors are:
JR Smokehouse in Wharton for regular sausage
Praseks Smokehouse in Hillje for summer sausage
Bernhards in Ingram for pencil sticks

Ive done some exotic stuff at B&W and its all come out good.

The best tasting, hands down IMO is Zummos, processed by Stewart's Wild Game. Drop off location is I10 on the East side. Expensive...never been disappointed.
