I've thought about this a lot. Didn't have the money when the price increase happened. I'm at a point where I'd break even about the time I'm eligible for senior citizen pricing on the super combo. If I was moving out of state I'd do it for sure because of the cost of an out of state license. It's just at that price that is borderline if its financially worth it. I guess the problem is that each year I wait it becomes a little bit less financially beneficial.

To have wildlife they must be managed properly. To be managed properly someone or something has to make and control rules. This costs money.

Actually this is one of the things that bothers me less about government. I hunt and fish so I pay a fee to help manage this. If I don't want to hunt or fish I dont have to pay anything. I pay taxes for lots of things that I dont use or benefit from.

True. But all these regulations are put into place for the low life's that will poach regardless. If I didn't have any tags, I would still be a responsible outdoorsman that would manage the wildlife properly. This applies to pretty much all laws unfortunately. Minority ruins it for the majority.
You know how to manage wildlife properly? what research have you done to determine when the deer dove and quail seasons should start and end? What minimum size trout, reds and snapper should you keep to insure sufficient reproduction to maintain the population? How are you going to prevent unrestrained market hunting or commercial fishing without regulations? TPWD isn't just game wardens looking to write tickets.

You know about the tragedy of the commons theory, right? Well by definition game and fish are in the commons.
Without regulations the majority would ruin it for themselves.
NO AMNESTY!

in order for democrats, liberals, progressives et al to continue their illogical belief systems they have to pretend not to know a lot of things; by pretending "not to know" there is no guilt, no actual connection to conscience. Denial of truth allows easier trespass.

You're missing the bigger picture. I pay an obscene amount of Taxes to support a near endless list of Government programs that I don't benefit from and many more that I am morally opposed to. Why isn't the cost of wildlife management similarly spread throughout the entire population.

My son is 11 years old, and I need to get him something for his birthday anyway. Granted, it's an expensive birthday gift, but it's a good right of passage message to send to him.

So, no the NPV doesn't work, but there are still other valid reasons.

Because it isn't.

Who pays for it has nothing to do with the presence or absence of game and fish regulations, the discussion was about why they are necessary, which is the big picture.

Did I see something where a poster mentioned that other states nearby will honor your Texas lifetime license in their state?

Does anyone have specifics, if this is true? Maybe I imagined it?

I know hunters ed is good all over the US, once taken in any state, but I am not sure about the lifetime license.

I don't think that is true, but Texas will honor your license if you move out of state. I had a buddy move to Colorado and he bought one before he moved to avoid having to pay out of state rates

This is correct... you can come back and hunt in Texas... I wish there was reciprocity in other states!

I got mine when it was still $1000. Its nice to have the wallet card in the boat and now the app because it's gotten past Sept 1 and I hadn't gotten the paper tags but could still fish.

Thanks....I was trying to recall what the extra bonus was there. Not that living outside of Texas would be a bonus, but I guess I could get used to the Bahamas or Hawaii, if someone forced me to.
