This hunt was crazy. Buck came out with a group of does at 150ish. Dropped him in his tracks. 10 minutes later a group of doe came out of a different sendero and that's all she wrote.

That's not the place on the west side of 37 just before Campbellton that's coal mining for the past few years is it?

Dad got a pretty good one yesterday in Milam. Teeth look 4 but might send them off for testing. We've killed a number of deer that look mature but teeth look young. Thinking they might just be wearing slow.

Tagged this guy on a friend's place in Coryell county. First year of a new tradition for Army buddy's to meet up on his family ranch to hunt & drink bourbon over Veteran's day.

Passed on a couple of does (already have one in the freezer). This fella was chasing 4-5 does, running them around cedar trees. Watched him work for 5 minutes before I could finally line up a broadside shot as he turned.

162 yards with a Browning X-bolt in 6.5 Creedmoor. He spun in place and dropped without taking a step.

Ok. Was curious because I had one that looked very similar last year on my camera & I hunt close to HC Lake. That's a nice, unique looking deer.

Buck tags filled for the year. Not my biggest or a very old buck, but he's my last at this place and I'm happy with him. 2nd best on camera so far this year, so that's positive.

Oh ok. Yeah this deer showed up fairly recently on some cameras and this was the first season we've seen him. We're about 10 miles from the lake as the crow flies so not impossible that it was the same deer.

Really tough lynx hunt in BC. Conditions were poor without snow, but we managed to track down a nice Tom on the dry ground.

Treed an absolute stud of a bobcat too, but season doesn't open until December. 35-ish lbs. and stunning markings. He was on a low limb on a steeper grade hillside, so we were literally 10-12' away from him. Really cool!

After getting skunked in Colorado, I was able to finally get out and hunt again. This time at a buddies place in South Texas. 6k acre low fence. He was after a real solid 5.5 y/o 8pt but never saw it. they had some huge bucks on camera but i never saw any in person.

Last night had a group of does come by the stand but never stopped at the feeder. they stopped long enough for me to take a shot but I couldn't range them due to mesh window. I Think I guessed wrong on the distance since never found my arrow ...Or any trace of blood or anything. I ranged it at 30 yards after the fact and I was using my 20 pin. so my best guess is I shot under. Beat my self up a little bit but at least there wasn't an obvious injury.

Fast forward to this morning with mesh windows removed. a doe came in with a spike at 7am. She came as close as 12 yards But facing me. Looked like she was going to go broadside so I drew my bow back only to sit there waiting for her to turn. It felt like I had to hold it for 5 minutes before finally something to our left startled her and she back up some and looked in that direction. Now at 20 yards and perfect broadside. I touched one off and she took off. Tracked her about 150yards and it was a chore on sandy ground, as the blood just soaked in to the ground and clumped up. found her 75 yards from the stand with Bubbles coming out of the exit wound...double lung!

Freezer filled !

Just a doe. But as a guest I just go for meat. No lease when two of the three kids were/are in A&M something ad to give. And the lease was one of the easy choices. Youngest is out May so who knows.

Buddies place 30 miles east of Goldthwaite along the river. My first hunt of the season was Sunday and I was one the best blinds he had. I've seen pics of a dozen deer at a time on this spot. Results? Nothing. Complete miss.

To my right is see in the next pasture 3 pods of does roaming say 30-35 acres. youngest, older sister and momma in each pod. So three shooters. All 250-300 yards out with 10 minutes of light so hard pass.

Next afternoon four young girls in one pod at my feeder but just babes so pass. Same three pods in the next field again. Damn it.

This morning same stand as the last two days. Figured my luck would change. Right? First light I have another small doe. Damn it. After 10 minutes I think at least scope her. As I did to her left behind a mesquite tree. Momma! She is covered up in brush and only see her head with a scope.

After a few long minutes she takes a few steps into view and bam, meat in my freezer. Big doe but did not weigh. I'm good for this year. If I take more it will be donated to Hunters for the Hungry if they are still around.

I'm on the board.

Buck down! We are down in TX for Thanksgiving, so I stole a day and took my oldest son out with my Dad for a quick hunt. 3 generations, 1 stand = priceless. Watched about 30 deer, and several bucks chasing does. Perfect evening just before the rain moves in.

We ended up shooting a pretty nice hill country buck. Great memories & full freezer! He ended up with 2 little bonus points (split brow, and small kicker under the other brow)- so an 18" wide 12 point. Was the first buck harvest my son has been apart of. Pretty awesome stuff!

Also go him his first flounder on Monday as well!

Took advantage of the special doe season in fayette county. Dropped a doe around 100 yards and the 140 accubonds poked a hole clean thru (as evidenced by the last pic)

Had a great modified weekend at the lease. Headed back home early since my dad is headed out of town tomorrow. Been chasing this 9-point for him and he finally slipped up yesterday evening. Solid 140" management deer. All G2s and G3's were 9-1/2" to 10-1/2". Really like the second pic below.

Another buddy on our lease shot this beautiful 11-point yesterday evening.

Hopefully this 11-point will hang around a couple more years. I think he's only 4-1/2 years old and 150"-ish this year. Great frame with 6-7" G4's already. I'd love to see him put on another 25-30".
