I'm not condemning anyone, nor am I advocating to wait 18 months for a pit (mine was built in 3 weeks.)

I think that point has been made multiple times over. It's sad that it's still made on just about every BBQ thread. People just can't leave it alone. My question is: who cares if someone has a brand preference and wants to wait? Who cares if someone wants a Franklin smoker and has $3k to drop. Seriously, so many people here get their little panties in a wad over the littlest stuff.
This thread has gone about as I predicted. I find it interesting that people will bash Franklin for putting out a $3k smoker but if Sunny or the Johnsons do it, it's cool and it's a good product. I wonder if those guys would have half the success they are having if Franklin hadn't been so influential.
On a lighter note, I was high bid in the charity smoker for 8 minutes. It's now at $7800!

This has been a very interesting thread to follow. Seeing all of these different cooking setups has been quite educational and I'd very much like to see it continue.
I believe their home place where this gate is 300+ acres. But they own quite a few cow pastures as well. I think they own close to 1000 acres total.
Their check went through, they could call it blue dog **** estates for all I care. I just built what they asked for.
What's the best way to contact you? I'm going to buy another pit soon.

Hahahaha, just got an email from Franklin bbq, apparently I got on the waitlist at some point. This wasn't a you can purchase one email, but more of an update. Said they retail for $3995. Honestly can't remember signing up for the waitlist.
Late to the party, but the pic in the OP looks like pits pushed out to curb with the bottom of the cylinders rusted out.

Agreed. Keeping in mind with the flood of Yankees and west coast liberals to Austin, there is a fortune to be made selling high end "Texana" stuff to the gullible. I wouldn't be surprised if someone can make a good living selling "locally sourced, artisan" custom chaps in Austin.

RTIC gearing up to get into BBQ pit manufacturing to compete with over priced bbq pits. I wonder what the tariff charge will be on them.
