This thread could be 1,000 pages but what say you OB? There's obviously tons of great places across the state but who's the best top-to-bottom?

I've been to most of the "best" places in the state but to me Guess Family BBQ in Waco has been the best I've had. All of their meats are perfection and sides are delicious. Currently a food trailer by the silos but opening a brick and mortar in the near future I believe.

Where you eat is overrated, where I eat is the best.

I'll go ahead and end the thread now by saying Black's in Lockhart

Definitely at or near the top with their beer ribs!

City Market in Luling has been my favorite since I was a kid. From what I can tell they haven't changed a thing in 30+ years. Sides are nothing special, but sausage and ribs are silly good.

Kreuz is the only place worth going to in Lockhart, and it's still not as good as Louie Mueller's.

Joel's is pretty solid. Loved the old man who was always working the counter.

Anyone tried Tender in Celina?

Good joint - voted #2 in the country on Yelp and opening a new location soon in Frisco

Not sure if they are #2 but they do a lot of things very well.

One time I had a great bbq experience at The Salt Lick. Might have been the portion sizes or the beer though.

Louie Mueller for brisket, beef ribs and peach cobbler.
Luling City Market for potato salad.
Galvan's in Richmond for sausage.
The Witt Pit in Rosenberg for the place no one has ever heard of, but is good at pretty much everything.

Has anyone eaten at LJ's in Brenham? Truths is supposed to be temporarily closed while they outfit their new place in Houston.

LJ's is pretty good. Truth is way overpriced. It's good but not that good. Joel's in flatonia was better when I was a kid. Last time I was in there he wanted to change me for bread.

prolly the beer. First and only trip to salt lick was terrible. Ribs and brisket were dry. Good sauce though.

There is a new place in Porter/New Caney called the rusty buckle if anyone lives close. Open like Wednesday to Saturday and when they run out they are out. I highly recommend it.

Coopers In Llano. Good BBQ and good sides. Don't have to ***** about sides like you do at all these other half ass joints y'all are ignorantly recommending.

BBQ is only good if you wait 4-5 hours for it and have tailgate experience to share while waiting for something that has been common place in central Texas for a century.

The pork ribs at Fargo's in Bryan are fantastic...their greens are great, too.

Coopers is the only real answer. Everything else is people from metroplexes looking for authentic bbq

No offense dude, but **** waco. I'm sure Guess is great, but I'll never go there. happily add I haven't been to waco in 4 years, and will never go back there except to bury my brother when he goes.

Louie Mueller is the real deal. Coopers is overpriced tourist BBQ.
