Any recommendations for a hatter in south Texas? Near Corpus would be great.

I have hats from Texas Hatters and from Catelina Hatters and I'm happy with both but like to buy hats in an area that I live in.

Rand's Custom Hats in Billings, MT. They do the SCI show in Dallas every January. Lifetime warranty on cleaning, shaping, repairing, etc. Can't do better, but it does take about 6-7 months to get it. However, once you're fitted they have your custom head shape, and I don't mean just circumference, forever so you can order from anywhere.

Could also call the good Ags at High-Brehm Werstern Wear in Victoria and see if they do it or have a recommendation.

It would be hard to suggest a hatter farther away from the texas coast than billings.

I had a hat cleaned at Paris Hatters in San Antonio at least 10 years ago and frankly they did a pretty poor job. The shop seemed very touristy and the hat shaper on duty at the time did not know what he was doing. Since then I've been soured on that place, but maybe it's different now.

I've had hats both just cleaned and totally reconditioned at Catalena hatters and was very happy. I've also recently used the High-Brehm in New Braunfels to recondition two hats and was also very pleased. Good luck.

High Brehm is legit if you need local knowledge.

High Brehm in Victoria no longer renovates hats. I had 2 renovated there many years ago. I took a 3rd one there, that's when I found out they no longer do it.

They still do an excellent job of shaping when you buy a new out of the box from them.

They still do it in New Braunfels and do custom jobs there too.

Go get one done at Chilitipin Creek Custom Hats in West Sinton and let me know if they are worth a dang! I have considered getting one but I haven't even seen one in person yet. I have heard good things from a couple of people.

I have had good experiences at other shops, now I'm specifically looking for one local to my new residence.

Just kinda wanting to continue the tradition of owning a hat made near where I live.

Centerpole is from South Texas and he goes here for hats. That's a stamp of approval if he trips out there.

A stamp of disapproval is Ursusguy saying I ate there and the food was bad.

One knows hats and the other knows food......hmmm....on the other hand maybe not.

If you had only said "South Texas" in your post, I could see how someone might suggest a place in San Antone, Alpine, or even Bryan. "South Texas" is an incredibly broad term that means different things to different people. I live in corpus & still have a hard time calling it South Texas. South Texas to me is south of San Antonio & west of I-35.

Yes, I put South Texas because I was worried there wouldn't be any hatters in the Costal Bend. That place in Sinton looks exactly like what I am looking for. To me, S. Texas is anywhere south of Three Rivers. But I agree, everyone has their own idea of what is South Texas. San Antonio is the hill country to me.

Pearsall is located on the east side of IH 35, but I still consider it South Texas.

I got mine from High Breh. In New Braunfels. Completely custom as I have a goofy ass shaped head.

Also, only a dingdong daddy from Dumas would consider Bryan to be South Texas.

There's a nice brewery there as well.

That's true. Yeah it's a broad area which doesn't include anything north of I-10.

High Brehm In Victoria is where I went to get measured, etc for my first custom felt. Ordered it from Catalena in Bryan and couldn't of had a better experience. Planning on ordering me a chocolate brown grizzly there for my birthday.

Well this thread has been informative for me. Didn't know there was a hatter in Sinton. I have spent plenty of time in that town too.

How does one live north of a north/south roadway? Do you need some kind of app?

I've never heard this either and had the same question. Guessing it means north of where it starts in south SA.

Catalina did a renovation for my 20X Silver Belly. They did an excellent job.
