Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm also in the market for a new hat. OP said he's been to Catalena Hatters in Bryan, but what's the rest of y'all's experience/quality with them?

Highly recommended. I have a straw hat from them that is very well done, and know a few people with felt that are very pleased with their work.

Catalena will let you do all the ordering online, but I think you really should go in store. They'll take the time to measure your head all properly and form it the exact way you want.

I got a silverbelly from them 10 years ago and it still looks brand new.

Had a nice long talk with Mr. Vickers at Chiltipin Creek Hatters. Very nice guy with an interesting story. Former Texas History teacher, decided he wanted to start making hats so that's what he did. Only been at it for 3 years but seems to know what he's doing. I like talking TX History so I enjoyed the conversation.

Moving forward with a 100% beaver silver belly hat. He said he'd keep working until I was happy with it and he seemed confident that he could make it fit my goofy head.

Pricing and lead times were very reasonable.

Unfortunately, they no longer make hats at the Victoria location.

Herb's isn't bad either. It's a small store, but if they don't have something in stock, they can order it. There's a lady named Beth who shapes hats there and she is really good at it.
