That was made in 1984, should still be JM stamped which makes it more valuable. I have a one made in 1976 so not much older. They seem to be going for anywhere between $600 and $800 depending on condition

Will the JM Mark be on the barrel? I'm not at home, so I can't look at it at this moment.

Stamped on the barrel. It is a proof-mark. Final "JM" proof-marked Rifles at North Haven Marlin were made in August 2010.

I saw the JM stamp on the barrel.

A few scratches and scuffs, but overall is decent condition for a 39-year-old gun.

Very nice weapon, the scratches shouldn't matter that much for the right buyer. Unfortunately the gold trigger pre-safety marlins are a little more desirable but still a nice weapon.

The scratches and safety may put it towards the lower estimate but in todays market you never know.

To the right buyer that gun is likely worth about $750-800 here in Texas, I think you are still outta state right. I know used gun markets change a bit state to state. I'd say anything less than $650 and you may be cutting yourself a bit short.
