I make my gravy with bacon grease, flour, milk, salt and pepper. That's it. It's nice and simple, but it tastes great. It's excellent over biscuits or chicken fried back strap.
This is good to know.B-1 83 said:

I thought someone posted there was a spin off of Toms. A former manager started a place.
It is damn good. Our go to for bbq. The 'special' is the 'Toms special' and comes on butcher paper with a pickle, onion, block of cheese, and bread. So damn good. And good sauce.Cstrickland05 said:SteveBott said:

Brisket House in Houston. They do the Aggie Special, but it's called something else. Never been, so don't know if it's any good.
Smiley was Cheeseburger, Please remind me what they called CFS sandwich??Och26-58-87 said:In the mid-80's for a college student budget, the Cow Hop CFS sandwich and gravy on the fries was hard to beat. Have a pig-out after and you'd be sure to take a good nap in class.Aggieangler93 said:
In the mid-nineties, my goto for CFS in B/CS was Tom's BBQ. It was a massive plate coverer, with good gravy. I miss Tom's!
P.s. It's unbelievable that Tom's is no longer.
It's been frustrating me since I posted as I can't remember either. Cowpie was just a hamburger - right? Or was that the CFS - I remember ordering cowpie and gravy on the fries often but I'm thinking that was the hamburger as I had the CFS sandwich only about 1/3 of the time. But, always had gravy on my fries either way.clendenin said:Smiley was Cheeseburger, Please remind me what they called CFS sandwich??Och26-58-87 said:In the mid-80's for a college student budget, the Cow Hop CFS sandwich and gravy on the fries was hard to beat. Never ordered the chili cheeseburger so if that's it I'm just remembering a catchy name.Aggie Pharmer said:Wasn't the Cowpie the chili cheeseburger?Och26-58-87 said:It's been frustrating me since I posted as I can't remember either. Try Shannon's in Bryan on a cfs day, or you can get their beef tips on rice.

I would say Longhorn in Bryan is average. Sodolak's is above average. I don't eat a lot of CFS anymore. White House Cafe in Iraan is right below Mary's. Zentner's Daughter in San Angelo is average, sometimes below average. They have become inconsistent.
