Hogs are getting brazen at my parents place and they have decided to start culling. Recommend some affordable rifles for this purpose please.

PS - Yes, they have a tractor for easy remediation.

As hogs are the only animals we hunt, where the target weight may run from 10-300 lbs, it's hard to recommend the "best" hog rifle and/or cartridge. Having used bolt guns all my life, they gather dust when hogs are the intended target... an AR is always the go-to for me. Then just have to decide which cartridge I'll be using.

This. I sold my 45-70 to an OB'r and went with a Henry Big Boy Carbine in .44Mag.

Or i'll second the RAR in 7.62x39

Both can be purchased from EyeGuy...even if you don't care to ever travel to Houston!

On average, 5.56, 7.62X39 AR have the cheaper ammo. 300BO or 308 AR have a bit more expensive ammo than the other. All can knock out a hog.

I'm considering an AR-10. I have pretty narrow lanes, and target acquisition for secondary shots is often a center mass hope shot. I've had trouble dropping these follow up pigs with 5.56.

Minigun has a variable rate of fire from 2000 to 6000 rounds per minute.

I found some Malaysian surplus .308 on sale right now for ~44 cents a round, $250 per 540 rounds. So, just under $1,000 a minute.

He's been doing some of his own research and is focusing on
Marlin's 1895GBL Guide Gun 6+1 .45-70 cartridge
mostly because he's used a Marlin .22 since he was 8

We may try to stop by the shop next week, Eyeguy! You might be able to convince me on an AR

You seeing them out during the day? Might need to look into a base rifle package and focus on IR or thermal if you are forced to hunt them at night?

Or a block of tannerite and a bucket full of nails. That too...
