I had honestly never heard of the Samson law. Googled it. Wow- what they can fine as a "trophy". Hopefully it is a good deterrent. My guess is someone that is going to shoot an animal like that likely doesn't care.

I've got a 14 day western hunt planned this year. I can't complain. But a big bull is number one on my list right now.

This would be the year to get him. He may let the younger bulls manage the harems and come make his appearance as the rut really winds up. When he beds up, is he alone? A bow hunter is going to try and slip an arrow into this beast! Hopefully nobody else is watching him and this heard is unmolested for a while!

Sadly I have 9 days of archery season to wait before I can go after him. My tag starts the 10th, and I have to work the 9th.

If I had archery this year, you can guarantee I would be up in that bowl about 2-3 days beforehand, and just keeping visual until opener. This bull is worth that. I'm very honestly debating maybe going after him with a buddy on archery opener- so someone else doesn't get him. Not sure if I know someone who is THAT good of a friend... ha ha!

Hope he makes it down to me during 3rd rifle!! I'll certainly hit you up if he does!

Will be near Pagosa hunting around Sept 8th through archery season. What church are you a member of? Also I rented a place for a week or so in the Rio Blanco basin for the wife and kids and my mother to stay and visit us. Will have a horse and two mules if you get one down..
