Where Can I Find a Taxidermied Coyote or Fox?

I'm looking for a full body mount coyote or fox as a gift. Preferably within a couple hours of Round Rock. Haven't had much luck on Craigslist. Any suggestions on where I might find one? Only looking to spend about $100. The only ones I have found were at a store in Austin asking $300 to $500.

Any help is appreciated.

Nope! Chuck Testa.

OP:

A full body mount runs about $500 or more. If it's really old it might have been sub $300... might have a hard time finding someone selling it for your budget, but I am not really familiar with the secondary market for taxidermy.

No story, really. My son, who's about to turn 13, recently told me, "Dad, it would be really cool if I had a stuffed coyote next to my bed so I could pet it." Hence the search for a stuffed coyote. Doesn't sound like I'll be able to find one for what I want to spend though.

There are some coyote hides on ebay for $50. Kinda sorta pettable.

There's also Coyote Gump.

The only answer here is to take the kid out, shoot said fox or coyote, get it taxi'd, and put it by his bed. That way he gets to go hunting, spend time with dad, and have a story to tell.

That would be the preferred method if I had a lease or land with yotes on it, but unfortunately I don't. We did take a shot at one while dove hunting last year, but at 50 yards with bird shot I don't think Wylie was ever in any real danger.

We ate at Salt Grass last night. There was a stuffed bobcat on the hearth that caused the granddaughter to cry. Her three-year-old brother announced that it was a "Cheeto."

Hope this helps.

And while I'm at it, another stuffed animal story from several years ago:

Having worked most of the weekend, my son took my granddaughter (then about three) out for some daddy-daughter time on Sunday afternoon. He took her to the library, to Orange Leaf, and then to Bass Pro Shop. Later that week I asked my granddaughter about her afternoon with Daddy: What did you and Daddy do together? "Ummmm....We went and got some books and then got some ice cream. Then we went to the zoo [soft, sad voice] but all the animals were dead."
