Anyone made one? Want to build something to hold 2-3 deer over night. Was thinking some sort of small shack with window-unit AC in it. Just want to get cold enough to where in Oct, Nov. Feb. when it's hot we don't have to quarter deer that we shoot in afternoon hunts.

It would be far more efficient to buy a small used walk-in. There was a 5'x5' for $2500 on FB marketplace a few weeks ago.

Appreciate the feedback but not really looking for efficiency, but rather allowing for a deer to hang for 12 hours without spoiling and as cheap as possible. Figured there was a much cheaper way to build one than buying an actual walk-in. Originally thought of a steel container box (small as possible), cut out hole for window-unit AC and then spray insulation around the AC but the steel boxes were larger than needed and pretty expensive.

you can easily build one. Problem will be the window unit freezing up.

They do make an aftermarket piece to by pass that and allow it to chill down lower. Not sure if it helps the freezing up issue though. Just google for the by pass switch and something should pop up.

Window unit plus CoolBot will get it down to the low 40s

I've got a Cool-Bot on a refrigerated trailer. 14,000 BTU window unit. We haul meat all over the country for BBQ cooks with it. Set it up right, and it does a good job of keeping the unit from freezing.

I have a 10 yr old walk in freezer. Guess it 5 deep and 7 x 7. Did not need any more and turned it off in Oct. Tried it last week and did not fire off. Don't think it a major fix. Commercial grade 6 " thick aluminum sided panels that clip together. Probably $3500 when I bought it $1500.00???? Blanco, Tx. Text me 512-925-9746 if any interest.

Would definitely be interested if it worked. I'm no handyman however so I can't justify buying something I know nothing about and might take $1000 to fix. Thanks for offer though.

Are you going to always be there to open their beer?
