One thing.... they pay their staff X number of dollars. If they believe they are going to have spend Y number of hours on you and X*Y is close to what they are trying to charge you for the repairs, they'll go ahead and just call it a day and move on, especially if you've started escalating it up the tree to the higher ups who make more per hour. Additionally, the each level of customer service pretty much wants the ones below them to take care of the problem. 2nd level up isn't that big of a deal for them, as they expect a fair number of those. Once you start getting higher up on the ladder, the person really starts expecting the people below him to start taking care of things more and they only want to deal with serious issues. This is true at oakley, Maui, and Costa, though each have their own quirks.
