Now what kind of optic are you buying?
If money is not an obstacle I'd choose a Swarovski Z3 although it costs more than the rifle i listed.

There was a guy that used to post up some of his custom rifles from his shop a little while back. I think I would buy one from him if I had the means. Wish he would post up again, but kinda glad he doesn't, I don't need that temptation in my life.

I don't have a specific model but something classic with a top tier wood stock, something from Shirley Brothers or the like. I have two bolt action rifle and both are synthetic, IF I acquire another one it will be wood.

The Model 71 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the BLR. The only downside of the 71 is that the real thing is only available in .348 Winchester - not a problem for reloaders once you have brass and dies.

I've always been intrigued by the Ruger .44 carbine (tubular mag) or Deerfield 99/44 (rotary mag). Something about a light but hard hitting rifle for hill country deer or pigs.

Top end Swarovski, Zeiss, or Leupold but every rifle I buy and use is for hunting. Like the long range stuff but getting a shot 5 minutes before dark or at first light, is the most important thing.

I'm still not convinced that some of the tactical/target scopes are the right choice yet in regards to light transmission (low light shooting). I think Nightforce is there... not sure about the others.

Sako 85 and swaro z6. Sakos barrels are excellent compared with most other factory offerings. Most of you would be pissed if you looked in your barrels with a hawkeye borescope.

Lots of good rifles listed.

I can personally vouch for the sako 85 finnlight in 6.5x55 and the pre remlin stainless 1895 guid fun in 45-70.

I also have two classic Winchester model 70's 30-06 and 7 mag. 7 mag wears a McMillan and z5 which makes it my go to hunting rifle.

However I just bought another recently and went with tikka t3x stainless in the boringly good .270.

Tikka T3 308 with 17" barrel and threaded for suppressor in a Manners stock. That's my favorite. But I do have a new T3X 6.5 Creedmoor that I need to go shoot. It's in a McMillan stock with a 24" barrel that's about to get cut down.

I have the 99/44 and my brother has the tubular mag model. His shoots better than mine, IMO.

It's pretty cool to watch the bullet in flight and impact when shooting over a spotlight because it's so big and slow.

Not really a deer specific rifle, but I just bought a Kimber Montana in 280 Ackley Improved. Mostly because I'm going elk hunting this October. But I plan to use it for Coues deer this year too.

I wish I would have bought one with that magazine. Awesome rifles. We've been shooting pigs all year with it and it never lets us down.

Ive found myself to like the 6.5CM over the 25-06. I hunted with a 25-06 for a couple of years, but once ammo became more available, I stuck with the 6.5.
