I bought a stock 2011 F-250 FX4 super crew and wanted to know anyone's experience with tire sizes. Leaving the truck stock with no leveling kit or lift, it is my understanding that a can fit a 35" tire.

I am currently considering 285/75-18 all terrains. This puts it at just shy of 35" and 11.22" wide. That is the exact size I had on my F-150 and liked the look, it was on 20" wheels.

I am wanting to get a good look and leave it stock but may consider an inch or two lift.

Anyone's thoughts?

pics please if you have them.

Don't rule out a 295/70/18 either. Buddy had that size in Toyo ATs and it looked really good. Stock 2012, no level.

An inch or two lift will make you cringe in that parking garage.

Yeah, stay out of parking garages. An inch or two will also keep you out of the Bucee's car wash. I think stock height is 6'10", and most garages and car washes have 7' overhead clearance. Your call.

Pretty sure its 77 or 79" depending on FX4 and 350 for 2011-2016. Can make it with an FX4 in a 6'8" garage. my 2016 does it everyday.

I have 295/65/20 Trail graps and a 2" level on the same truck stock rims. Looks and rides great

I also had death wobble at 35,000 miles with the factory Michelin's. Sort of soured me on them whether deserved or not

Bfg 285s run narrow and wear extremely fast in my experience. Got twice the mileage out of 305s, though wider rim.

2011 F-250 Lariat Leveled with 275/70/18 BFG All Terrains.
I've got 290,000 miles on this truck and still drive it everyday (put 2,500 miles on last week). Im hardly ever not taking it off-road on rock and mud in the oilfield, through the snow in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, and down at the ranch and through the brush in Texas. I've had Nittos and BFGs in both their all terrain and mud grip styles. I would stand by it 100% of the time when I say that I've seen the best overall performance with the BFGs. I can't think of many other people out there that have push their vehicles to the limit more than I do on a daily basis.

Remove the stock water separator and full filter and replace with aftermarket. Had a 08 king ranch f250 under warranty and the Ford dealership voided my warranty on a bad tank of diesel. You have to remove the cab to get to the fuel pump when it goes out and that's about 8k.

But to answer your question Nittos on 35 I don't recall ever putting a left on mine.

Along these same lines:

Replace the factory Intercooler (CAC) pipe with aftermarket. Very simple and saves you from sitting on the side of the road in the middle of damn nowhere towing something you care about not leaving on the side of the road! Very common failure even in stock config.

Has this been a problem on the 6.7s? I know the 6.4s had issues but haven't heard a whole lot on the new 6.7s with this.

Yea I'm not sure about the 6.7 once my issue happened I got rid of the truck, I was more pissed at the dealership then anything else. They came up with that excuse so they didn't have to pay. I made it a point to always put diesel in from truck stops or places that went through a lot.

You are right. The FX4 is listed at 79.7", you are much more brave than I.

Just be careful. Anything more than a 2" lift and the Ninnies on the OB will say you have a brodozer.

Those will likely be my next tire; moving from a 285/70/17 AT3 that has been great on road, I want something a bit more aggressive off-road. Looking at the 255/80/17.

I have a 2011 F250, I run 35x12.50R20 Firestone Destination MTs. Slight rubbing at full turn into a bump, but nothing to worry about. You can clear 37s with just a leveling kit.

I have those exact tires on my 2006 F250 and I came to post to not get them. I had Nitto Terra Grapplers on it before and was happier with the on-road performance of them over my current Firestones.

I will say that the performance off-road is amazing with them. They tear through mud really well and I feel that having them on my rig was the only reason we got to our hunting spot in Rock Springs a couple years ago...it rained quite a bit the week before we got there and my truck got through the muddy roads but I wouldn't say it was easy. Those terra Grapplers wouldn't have done it IMO.

My biggest complaint is that I don't feel they handle well in the rain. I've fish tailed a couple times on the highway at a relatively high speed and also just pulling out of a parking lot. That never happened with my Nittos.

They are pretty good in snow though.

Do not go to a 255/80/17. Going to look really skinny

Serious question, if you were going to buy at 3/4 ton diesel, what would you buy? I have been leaning Ford Superduty but the death wobble nonsense has made me hit the pause button. Was going to look at the new Dodge. Not really a GMC/Chevy diesel fan.

I just sold my 3/4 ford because of the death wobble. What did it for me was the lack of urgency Ford showed in fixing the problem. They ended up replacing the steering dampener with the same part number of dampener. It ended up "wobbling" again 2 months later. I know own a 3/4 Chevy Duramax for the first time ever.
