Any recommendations on wade fishing around lake Anahuac? I'm moving to that area this summer and thinking about going out on the water this weekend.

I'd recommend Fort Anahuac. There is a pier there as well as a long peninsula that parallels the Trinity River channel going out into the bay. Every now and then you can catch fish under the lights off of the pier but I've done better driving to the end of the peninsula and wading out to the sand flats that sit to the west. The area is a little hit or miss in Spring and Summer but it can really turn on in the Fall. I'd go get a cheap little kayak so you can cover more ground and explore the flats and the marshy areas. Reds and flounder will usually hangout along the grassy shorelines.

I'd also ask around and see if you can find someone who has a house in the White Heron subdivision along the east shoreline of Trinity Bay. That's a good little summertime wade area that usually holds trout. If you meet someone with a lighted pier then even better.

What are you going to be doing in Anahuac?

TommyGun's advice is spot on. I've caught a ton of fish wading on the west side of that point. I've also done well setting up some lights on the end of that point and bank fished.

Thanks for the advice! I definitely plan on getting a kayak when I move out there but don't have a place to store it yet.

Work is having me split time between Houston and Beaumont so it was the best commute between the two.

Nice. Keep an eye on the surf cams and head down to Bolivar when it flattens out. A light easterly breeze and green water usually means good fishing off the beach.

Little bit of a walk, but the spillway at mccollum park is not too far.
