Looks pretty great from this end. What am I missing?

We have it and like it a lot. Someone on the home improvement board posted simething about their network security not being that great. So I guess look into that. We've moved it from one house to another with ease.

Had them for years. Works great. Putting them on my second house this week. Also AMEX is running a $100 rebate on $400 if you buy from the simplisafe website i think still. They just came out with their new Simplisafe 2 system, which is what I am putting on the new house.

Have had it for two years in my apartment. Love it so much, I bought my mom a system for her new house.

I was considering this a while back, but read some negative reviews of it going off all the time for many people. Good to hear some positive results. Maybe I will reconsider....

I had a small period of issues that I traced to a dying battery in a smoke detector. I just took the detector off the system.

All moot on the new Simplisafe 2 systems and even then, the crap they mention is not what your run of the mill thief is gong to do. Plus his main point about the base station is idiotic at best. You don't have to leave the thing sitting out, mine is upstairs in a bedroom with the sound and lights disabled. Its wireless for a reason. They also have glass break sensors, motion sensors etc. All trigger the alarm immediately when set off when armed.


Same with the forbes article, the new system is encrypted and in constant contact while armed. The new system really did a good job of fixing the minor flaws of the old system.

I work in technical security.

That article is a hit piece by the likes of ADT/etc.(just look at the main page of the site). YOU DIDNT FOLLOW OUR RULES! Well, your rules are dumb and you use phones lines...

Simplisafe is the best thing going right now and these guys are pissed.

ETA: I've also got my fence boards facing the right way, good locks, nest, ring, a dog and a gun. Use layers.

I installed a simple safe system a few months ago. Been happy with it so far. Simple set up, and can be very simple or very complex depending on what you want to do.

I have their security camera that I have yet to use because of my slow rural internet. If anyone is interested in it, it's new in box and never used, just sitting on the shelf.

Curious how often you have to change batteries in all the senors? About annual like a smoke detector?

Im on 4 years right now with mine. The only batteries I change are the keypad every few months.

We've had the system for nearly 3 years now and I can only remember changing one or two sensor batteries, and that was after a move where they sat in boxes for a while. If memory serves, the keypad units need new batteries about every 6 months.

They tell you when they go out.

Had one at my small office for three years now....very pleased with all aspects.

They FINALLY called me today about my "pending" order from 2/28 and basically just tried to convince me to buy without my $100 off $400 purchase promo. They wouldn't discount the system on their end to match what the price should have been despite it being their error

They also removed my bad review from their facebook page and blocked me from commenting on their posts after leaving a bad review there. Nothing vulgar, just shady business practices of scrubbing anything bad.

My recommendation is to avoid them based solely on their customer service.

FYI, Abode is another option similar to simplisafe and Nest/Google have an alarm offering now as well.

I'm leaning towards Abode to ditch my $50/mo monitoring of my current system.

We have used them at our office for about 2 yrs now and I do not have any complaints. Two factors I really like about the system:
1. Theres an option to get a text message when a sensor is triggered, I've got it on a door to our warehouse. It sends me a text that a doors been opened and I can look at our camera on my phone to see who's in there.

2. The smoke alarms, which in my opinion is the best feature, will dispatch someone to your residence when triggered. If a fire occurs at night the FD will arrive much sooner than if a passerby has to notice the smoke/fire then call 911.

Yes, the central monitoring station will call you before launching the assets. If they don't reach you, they send the assets automatically.
