There is a question that has been floating around the last week or so that poses the question "Which of these 2 sets of animals would you pick to protect you in a fight against the other sets of animals?"

Your choices are:

50 Eagles/Hawks
10 Alligators/Crocodiles
3 Grizzly Bears
7 Water Buffalo
15 Wolves
10,000 Rats
5 Silverback Gorillas
4 Lions
1 Hunter with unlimited ammo

You also get to choose your own terrain.

My first instinct was to have the 5 Gorillas surround me and then have the 15 wolves working outside of the circle. The more I got to thinking though, I realized how problematic the 50 Eagles and 10,000 rats would be. What would be your choices? Apologies if this has already been posted. I didn't see it scanning through the first few pages.

Grizzly bears and Lions.

Once you get the predators, the prey don't attack.

Give me the rats and gorillas if the gorillas know they can also use the rats as projectiles.

My answer as well. Gorillas are smart and strong AF. They can protect me up close while he hunter is sniping all the other threats from further away.

Can you pick one of them twice? If you can I'd go with 2 hunters. One with a scatter gun, the other with a rifle.

Exactly, a lot depends on the hardware carried by the hunter.

Outside of the hunter, I go with the Gorillas and the Bears. Size wins most fights in the wild.

Agree. Pissed-off silverback gorillas and me with unlimited ammo from a perch on high.

Edit to include my plan... If I'm in a tree, I'm shooting everything first that can get to me...bears, eagles, rats, etc... I'll let the gorillas handle the ground assault. Once I've hopefully knocked out any tree crawling/flying threats, then I'll finish off what the gorillas didn't kill. Then I'll have to see just how pissed off the gorillas are once the carnage is over. May have to take out my helpers so I can leave the tree...

Bruh the rats would wreck two hunters.

Lions and wolves and hope that they themselves don't get into it! They're both pack animals and work well in teams so taking down larger threats shouldn't be an issue. Plus they both move much faster than most of the other ones. Neither probably work well in water, but if I'm not in the water, what difference does that make?

I keep picturing the scene from The Mummy where the wave of those beetle things swallows up everyone, when thinking about the rats.

Also, if I understand this game correctly, anyone you don't pick is therefore on the attacking team.

Assuming the hunter is an adequate sniper with the right hardware, none of those animals can protect your from him at all. You have to pick him not to be quickly killed by him.


The big animals are never getting close to me. Slowed down by rats while the hunter puts a round through each of them. Keep a small contingent of rats to run interference with the birds immediately around me until the hunter and I can beat them out of the air into the masses of returning attack rats.

10,000 rats is ALOT of rats, average weight of a brown rat is 10 oz; 10,000 of them is 6,250 lbs.

That's gonna out weigh anything else on the list.

I choose 35 lab puppies and 17 dolphins at the Playboy mansion. I might die, but what a way to go.

10k Rats would overwhelm every single one of those. We all know whats rats can do to flesh when they have motive.

But do they have motive... they aren't gonna just hunt down a human for no reason.

Brings up a good question for the OP...are these animals aware that they are hunting you?

Gorillas

I didn't come up with this, but I imagine some sort of scenario where all of the groups you didn't pick are at a "starting line", and when the "game" starts, they all begin moving toward you, with you being public enemy #1.

Ya but that gives the animals a much different "advantage" than what would be natural.


You could just starve them for a week or so, realistically there will be some in-fighting amongst the rest of the animals but they'd still potentially come after you.

If you starve them and only release them in groups to come at ya, you lower the reality of them attacking each other, but then that makes it MUCH easier on your chosen allies.

But I gotta admit, the picture of gorillas throwing rats had me laughing.........

If the other animals have a motive to kill you and your protectors, I would assume the groups you chose have motive to protect you?

I also assume you have some way to communicate with your protectors.

Water buffalo and hunter

Man this is pretty tricky. My first instinct would be to say Gorilla / Hunter combo, but the rats would probably be problematic. In fact, I don't really see anything in that list that could stop 10,000 hell bent coordinated rats, maybe if the hunter had some kind of automatic shotgun or a flame thrower.

Gorillas for sure make my list, it's the other pick I'm having some trouble with. On one hand I want to pick water buffalo purely bc I'd like the gorillas to be riding 5 of the 7 buffalo, but this really serves no useful purpose vs rats or hawks. I'm pulling an audible and going Gorilla / 20-30 Tuna combo.

Gotta go with rats and a hunter with unlimited ammo. 10,000 rats creates an overwhelming problem for any other set of animals on pure numbers alone. As they will distract the other animals the hunter can pick off the targets one after the other.

I take this back, was being very unimaginative. Take the rats, and put the hunter on a platform above me with one of these mounted with full range of motion.

Good point. If so you have to pick him, right?

Or if the category of Hunter included Steve Irwin - Crocodile hunter, I think you just pick him and not worry about the rest - he can figure out how to get me out of it.
