Does the OB know of or have experiences with Moberg Smokers out of Dripping Springs?

They look like they'd be fine as long as they use heavy gauge steel. For the price they're asking I imagine it's thick. That seems a bit pricey for their base model though. If I'm remembering correctly you can get a 20" pipe w a fire box, BBQ chamber, and a smokestack at Buccees for the same price. The ones at buccees are thick steel as well
I went back and looked and for the one w the smoker stack was 1400 and the one that would be the base model from the outfit you're asking about is almost 1400. For comparison you could buy the "base" model from Buccees for 990.
May want to check those out, they're made by a company called longhorn mines been great

Yes. I cook on my buddy's 500 gallon all the time. Sonny makes on hell of a pit. Has put 1000 gallons in at Tejas and Corkscrew.

Firebox holds heat well.

I agree the price seems above average, but the Stiles SwiTch crew in Austin (and a few others) highly recommend them. Looking to move on to a stick burner after playing with BGE for years. Open to other suggestions.

I think I might do the same thing. I've had my BGE for less than a year. I like it and have made good food on it. But it just doesn't get the smoke I want.

Any particular reason you'd like to move on? I have a stick burner as mentioned above, for big things hands down I would use the pit. Have recently considered an electric, Pellet, or BGD type grill for smaller stuff.

Oh, dont get me wrong. I still like the BGE, but it doesnt turn out BBQ the same way a pit does. We have a Pitts and Spitts at the family ranch that puts the BGE to shame.
