I don't like Duluth Trading's marketing. They seem to show all of their products as a sketch instead of picture of it. Have you found their stuff to be quality?

Everyone should own one of these. It's the best jacket I've ever owned, and keeps you much warmer than you'd expect by looking at it. Pair it with a base layer under a button down, and you can dress it up to "nice casual" even on the coldest days. In Texas, you don't need anything more than a soft shell and, a couple of times a year, a good base layer to wear under it.
Too bad North Face doesn't carry tall sizes. Unfortunately, not everyone can own one (at least if they purchase it planning on using it)

Norfolk, VA. So not really far north, but for a native Houstonian, it's getting up there. Coldest climate I've ever lived in.

I have been rocking my lined Wrangler blue-jean jacket over a sweater. Keeps me very warm and denim-on-denim is a classic look.

I buy a lot from them. Love their stuff. Super durable.
With the temps in the teens around here this week, I've been wearing their shoreman's fleece jacket with a hood. It's got a wind resistant layer sewn between the fleece layers, and it kept me cozy while wearing scrubs and walking into work.

My father in law swears by their compression socks. I wear their v-neck t shirts practically every day under my scrubs - the length is great to prevent from giving the nurses a good crack view when I bend over. And I wear their wrinkle fighter button down shirts for dressier occasions.

Their stuff outlasts everything else I buy.

Do you realize that if you are on their website, and you hover over most things, you see an actual picture instead of the hand drawn-like representation?

Barbour with a fleece underneath. Wind and rain proof. Works very well

anyone heard of this website...thewonelm.com?

found some killer deals on jackets? almost too good to be true? If it is legit I will probably order a 3 in 1 jacket just to get the most bang for my buck
FYI, the Houston board has branded this guy as a giant troll

Great info otherwise

Thanks!

As Sean and some others on here can attest, the clothing industry is not a tall man's friend. They are getting more friendly though.

I have one similar to this. Green. Usually found on amazon for less$ I think. I love it.
I have the good ol brown carhartt heavy jacket for outdoor dirty work, but this one is a little nicer and "dressier"

Barbour with layers underneath has worked well for me in most climates - I use silk and wool though rather than synthetics.

If it's very cold, I have a great down parka from Cabelas with a coyote fur trimmed hood, but 0F is a bit warm to zip it up all the way.

Get one of these or an equivalent and layer it under a Barbour.

I really like it. Actually weairing it right now.

I have been really impressed with Backcountry. I was assigned a gearhead and she called me to ask me my interests and gear needs. We talked about an hour and gave me some great recommendations. That's the way service should be. I'll buy everything outdoor related from her if I can.

Went down a rabbit hole looking for a heavy duty cold weather parka.

Ran across this company Wellensteyn out of Norderstedt, Germany.

Anybody heard of these folks or familiar with this brand?

Same, but with wool sweaters. Pretty standard NoVa wear, at one time.

It is the standard wear around Charleston SC.

Barbour will lengthen sleeves, etc.
