Hey Caladan,
I lost the rubber eyepiece on one side of my Swaro SLC 15-56's. Can you hook me up with how to get a replacement?

So the rubber eye piece on the SLCs is glued to the eye cup assembly, which you can purchase separately. I just assumed they were removable for cleaning purposes. I ended up losing both of mine.

I called Swarovski and told them what I did. Which is when I found out they weren't designed to be removable. The Swaro rep was super nice and shipped me two new eye piece assemblies free of charge. Great company, give them a call.

He did tell me for future reference, if I ever had one come off again, I could just glue it back on (remove the eye piece assembly first!) Now that I know the rubber eye cup isn't supposed to come off by itself, I don't anticipate it happening again.

Editted to try and be more clear:
Replacement Eyecup (Don't purchase until you've talked to Swaro.)

The entire eyecup assembly is meant to be threaded off for cleaning. The rubber end cap is glued to this assembly.

Gotta keep the rift raft out.

I kid! You in the shop? I might have found a method of currency to fund a .300 blackout pistol I've been wanting.

I just got a pair of 8x42 Zeiss Conquest HDs and am very pleased, however my Dads Swarovskis are a tab bit clearer. They were also significantly more money.

I need to post some closeups of the abuse my 10x42 SLC's have taken since I got them in 2002 (for $900!!!!; do the inflation/exchange rate math). They are still as solid and bright as the day I got them, but externally, the rubber and assorted other plastic parts have taken a beating in certain areas. But that is the benefit of the Big 3; they don't care about cosmetic damage, and if the bino craps the bed functionally, they're going to fix or replace it, as long as it was obtained through an authorized dealer.

Which leads me to grey market vs. regular market. Grey market, factory tells you that you are SOL; regular market, factory bends over to help you out. I could have saved ~$200 going grey back in '02. Binos are still as solid as the day I bought them. $200 was a big difference then for a new graduate, and if you want to do the time-value-of-money-calcs, maybe I should have gone grey market. But they have been one of the best gear investments I've made, and I wouldn't trade them for anything (unless it was a straight up trade for some EL's). So, odds of any of the Big 3 binos crapping out is pretty low, but if you are willing and able to drop that much cash on them, go regular market instead of grey.

I posted something like this a couple of years ago. I bought a pair of SLC's for a son when Sportsman's Wearhouse closed in Flower Mound/LVille.....knowing full well he can screw up the working parts of an anvil.

He drug them around Alaska for 7-8 years and then back to Texas for a couple more and he does use them. By that time there were several things missing or broken.

He got online....paid $50 and got inline for repairs. When they were ready they sent him an email to ship them.

There was a very short turnaround once shipped. They came back and looked like new. That's a warranty.
