Weird; trying to buy a DCS Guide jacket that was listed for 109 all day. Now it's 189, but still shows it's on sale. Confusing.

Weeelp, good news/bad news for me. I had a meeting this morning at 8:00am that lasted until 10 (Central). By the time I hopped on FirstLite virtually all of their ASAT gear in normal sizes was gone. Makes me sad because I'm kinda qu*er for ASAT, but good news for my bank account.

Check Midway USA. Even better sale and seems to have better inventory than First Lite or S&S. I finally pulled the trigger on a Woodbury.

I got my guide jacket and I like it a lot so far. I have a question about layering:

If it's real cold, do you guys layer their ultra merino 145 as a base layer, then a 210 layer over that, then something like a guide jacket as an outer layer? If so, how do I size these other layers? I got a large guide jacket. It seems to have a little room to layer underneath, but I don't want to feel like a marshmallow man or have a lot of excess fabric bunching up under the jacket.

If it's real cold I'll wear a merino base layer (preferably a 1/4 zip with a hood), then a heavier merino layer. Then a "puffy" layer, then a windproof shell.

Most of the tech clothing companies make their various layers slightly sized up (I can't speak for KUIU as I don't own any) so that a large base layer fits under a large vest, fits under a large shell... I'm pretty sure Sitka and FirstLite both explain whether that is/isn't the case in their product description.

Thanks. It's 30% off instead of 40% (for the ASAT that I want). They do have a a couple of pieces in my size, but I think I've already decided to be a good boy financially (at least for today).

FYI, Cabelas has some decent deals on some Sitka gear. 90% Jacket for 35% off for example.

Edit: Nevermind, Scheel's has the 90% Jacket for $20 cheaper than Cabelas. Not sure what it is with Scheel's but they're often semi-blowing out Sitka stuff it seems. ...especially in-store which may not help you guys. Not sure if you have Scheel's down there.
