I have a dog that is 1/2 GSP, 1/2 Weim, so it's basically half the same dog as a silver... I paid $25 for it. She's a great bird dog but just like a silver, she's a mutt and not worth high dollars to me as a "breed." If it's worth high dollars to you, great. However she's a better bird dog than a lot of pedigreed dogs I've hunted behind, and would be well worth the money on that end.

The issue to me, when you're breeding for appearance you're not selecting for drive/health/ability, you're selecting for "pretty." That's basically how we ruined bulldogs and developed purse dogs. Go into it with low hunting expectations and be pleasantly surprised if it hunts.

Remember when you could get a weimaraner AND a lab for $900?

I think you're referring to a Weimareiner as a high energy pointer. That's 180 degrees from what most pointing dog people would consider a high energy pointer.
