You'd be better off carrying a charged power bank imo

^This.

Don't get one of the small cheap ones. A full day charge on it will fill your phone battery about half way.

I use the link below. On the mini solar panel I know it's not terribly efficient, fast charging, etc. But with my phone in Airplane mode and only using OnX maps I rarely get lower than 60%. I set the charger in the sun all day/every day while off hunting so it's getting some amount. I've went 9 days off that charger and could probably have went more.

I have the nomad and several of the cheap ones on Amazon that are really just power banks that have the ability to recharge. I use the Amazon ones every weekend while at baseball tournaments. When I'm not recharging my phone, I hang it in my backpack for sit it in the sun. It will typically recharge itself in 5-6 hours. I keep one in my car, hunting bag, wife's car, backpack. You'll always be happy you have one

Academy was selling those nomads for 60 bucks last year. Those things have gotten expensive!

I've got the Goal Zero Solar Panel and battery pack. Worked well for me. I charged the batteries and my phone while hiking during the day, and my Garmin at night on the battery pack.

I used a 24w foldable solar charger with 2 USB ports last year that I bought off Amazon. Worked well.

I really didn't need it as my phone and global transponder only needed one recharge, but it worked well and quicker than I expected.

Per the little research I did, it's all about watts. Phones need so many watts to charge at a reasonable rate.

Whoah... my MIL texted me the other day and asked if I wanted a goal zero kit her company sent her. I said sure but only if she had no use for it. I told her I could use it occasionally on on primitive camping trips.

The price on the link above surprised me so I looked up the one she has. It's a Sherpa 50. It's $330 on Amazon. Geez! I need to tell her not to worry about me for Christmas.

Where are you going hunting?

I chose to get a battery pack over the solar panel because I could leave it at camp and recharge every night. It did extremely well for 6 Days.

The main reason I didn't go with a Solar is because the last hunt my buddy went on in CO they had almost no sun the entire trip and no charging power.

The battery packs are heavy though but if you have the small portable chargers you can throw one in your pack and use t during the day and then recharge it at camp that night.

I do like the solar idea, just telling you why I settled on the battery pack.

I ordered this for my phone charging while camping/etc needs. Its 10000 mAh which should be enough to charge my phone almost fully five times. I actually just ordered last week and have been charging my phone off it to see how long it lasts. So far I'm at 2 full charges and one 40-100% and its still shows it has about half power left.

Realistically if I can get almost five charges that's enough for what I'd use my phone for camping/etc.

I had the nomad, worked good, both a battery pack and solar, charge it up then keep it out in sun periodically.. Worked great until I left it on the hood down the highway.

It doesn't handle 70 mph and asphalt well.

That should be plenty! I have the 28,600 one it charged headlamps every night, portable sticks, and my phone for 6 days. It's probably 4-5 lbs though. Only like $50 on amazon.
