I'm looking at buying a Kubota RTV-X1140 for farm use. My FIL has a X900 and loves it. I like that it is diesel with a hydrostatic transmission. His has been absolutely bulletproof for the year that he has owned it.

My FIL bought a Kubota over a John Deere which is amazing. Every tractor he owns is green down to his 25 year old diesel riding mower.

Anybody have any experience with these Kubotas?

Dont own one but rented one for a skeet shoot and was thouroughly impressed. Things are built like tanks. Not fast at all but felt like it could do anything I threw at it on the ranch.

The engine break makes the ride different than similar equipment. When you take your foot off the gas it will slow rapidly rather than coast.

We don't have that exact model, but do use a Kubota out at our land. Ours has been very solid the last 5 years, but unfortunately just recently it developed some sort of problem where you can still hear a clicking noise from the engine area when you shut it down and the only way to get it to stop is to unplug the battery. So we are about to send it in and have it serviced.

solid machines, built more like a pickup than others and not belt driven. It would be my choice if i was in the market

We have the x900 as well. We've really enjoyed ours. Its been a few years now without any issues.

We have had a 900 for several years and have been very happy with it. It acts more like a tractor with a truck body than a UTV. It is not fast, or particularly comfortable, but it works well for around the farm type chores.

I have an older 1140. It has been a good machine for what I use it for on my ranch. Not fast at all but I really don't care about that. The one problem that I have is that the radiator is placed so that the dust from the front tire kicks up right into the radiator and caused the machine to overheat. I have to blow out the fins on the radiator with my air compressor every other trip out there to prevent this from happening. Really a design flaw and the new machines have the radiator up front to correct this problem. I wouldn't hesitate to get a new one but I would not buy one that has the old radiator placement.

I've had several on jobsites - I'm of a different opinion of Kubota UTV's than pretty much everybody here. I don't like them personally. Always seem to have issues (overheating, bearings going out, etc.), they aren't comfortable to me at all to drive or ride in and the ones I've had always seem to have a lack of power. I'm normally a fan of Kubota because they generally make good stuff, but their UTV's would be pretty low on my list of preferences.

We've got an RTV 1140, and I don't like it. Bought it for our guys to use on the jobsite. It's super heavy, loud, and slow. It is built very well, but not comfortable for cruising around. The suspension and clearance don't even compare to other UTV's like a Mule or Ranger. And the automatic braking thing sucks.

We've got a Mule Pro-DXT and it is awesome. Much smoother ride, a little bit quieter. Built more for offroad, with higher clearance and very nice suspension. This is also diesel, and it tops out around 30 mph. They sell a gas version that probably goes twice as fast.

Everyone's experience is different. I decided to go with Kubota buggies for all of our overseas work. They are pretty rugged. We had dozens of the 900s and the 1140s working in the jungle. They held up well with the exception of the suspension. Seemed like we were replacing the suspension components pretty frequently. I think it had more to do with 10 guys riding on each one at quitting time than anything else.

If you are getting the machine for working mainly I would go with the Kubota. If you want speed then go with something else. The cargo bed on the Kubota is made of metal versus plastic on a lot of other UTVs. Plus it has a hydraulic dump on it.

Owned diesel RTV 900 for 9 nine years. Excellent machine. Great for working out of. If you want speed, look at something else. But for work, I think it is the way to go.

Don't have one but have been shopping UTVS a lot lately. Decided against Kubota when the Kubota engine went out on our Snapper mower and the solution was a new engine to the tune of $4500. Also have another Kubota mower that we bought used that has some design defects, so didnt want to go there.

The Mule Dxt looked solid and was recommended over a Ranger by a salesman that sold both. 3 yr warranty on the Mule.

Ended up with a used Gator.

There is an Aggie in Lagrange with a hardly used '13 825i S4 (gas) if anyone is looking. Nice guy and it was clean with many bells and whistles, but we went diesel instead.
