I was coming home from the store with my three kiddos and as I pulled into my driveway a car pulled in behind me. I have a driveway gate but I wasn't able to get it closed before the car entered because they turned in so quickly behind me. Random cars turning into our driveway aren't uncommon since we are one of the first driveways once you leave city limits and people realize they have gone too far, so I didn't think anything was up yet.
I proceeded to get out of my truck and the person in the vehicle parked behind me (50 feet or so) got out as well. I began to get a little suspicious but thought he could be asking for directions or something. As he approaches the conversation goes like this:
Creep: Is this Jack's house?
Me: Yes
Creep: I'm looking for Jack's house
Me: This is Jack's House, I am Jack.
Creep: Oh.... I guess I have the wrong Jack.
He then proceeds to casually walk back to his vehicle like he is going to make a phone call. He then gets in and backs down the driveway and drives away.
The entire time this is happening I am cussing myself for not carrying my pistol today and wondering how I am going to protect my three children in my backseat if this situation goes sideways.
My question is am I overreacting to the situation, or should I be concerned about a repeat appearance. Should I call the Sheriff's department and provide what little information I can? I quickly got my phone and took a picture of his vehicle driving away but I was unable to get a picture of the license plates. And since we don't have front plates in my state I never saw his plate either.
