So we have an armadillo making a mess of my new sod. The squaw is not happy. So, I pulled out my 9mm last night and popped him in the side. He jumped three feet in the air and ran off. So I gave chase and hit him twice more.... and he ran off. Shooting 115 g Remington.

1. They're harder to kill than you think.
2. If your 9mm was ball ammo, it just punched right through. If it was HP ammo, sometimes they don't present a hard enough target for expansion and the bullet punches right through.

I never saw an armadillo jump so high when I shot one in the face with a 12 gauge one time. Crazy

i had to shoot one a couple times with a 5.7 for him to stop moving. shot another one with a 308 around about 10 yards away. couldnt really tell it was an armadillo afterwards...

I'll go ahead and get this going with a personal anecdote. The last armadillo I killed was with two shots with a 9mm. Looking back I shouldn't have killed him because we were way out in the pasture. I was being careful to watch and listen for snakes, and this little ****er jumped out from underneath me and scared the crap outta me, so I shot him. He fell over dead immediately.

.22 to the base of the skull was by far the most interesting I've ever seen. Dead on impact, but the reflexes didn't know that. Musta done 6 or 7 backflips.

22LR hollow points work much better on them. When I was in high school the state was buying dead ones for $2.50 each. Me & my buddy had ATV's with baskets rigged front & back and access to over 20,000 acres. We killed A LOT of them. Didn't have very many run too far.

My Dad shot one with his .22 a few years back, he said he about lost it laughing when he shot it and it jumped up about 3 feet straight in the air 2-3X then just dropped dead

One time at opening weekend of deer season the whole family got boozed and my cousin shot one with his bow in the front yard. That sum ***** ran 20 yards head on into the trailer skirt and shot blood 10' up the skirt and siding. Everyone in the family rolled on the floor even my granny.

Next day after the morning hunt my big ole cousin was out cleaning dillo blood off the side of the trailer on a ladder.

We caught an armadillo when I was in high school and punted it back and forth several times and then threw it in the river.

Bloody dillos.

I like killing stereotypes. Lots of critters have the potential to give you diseases.

I shot one with an Aguila 22lr Colibri round (powderless, primer only) out of a 4" revolver from less than 3 feet just to see if it would penetrate his armor. It didn't. The second round passed him off enough that he ran off.

shot my first one with a benjamin pellet gun when i was 10. it spun circles around the dirt several times like that tasmanian devil cartoon character. after the second shot, his blind ass ran right towards me and had me jumping around like a dancing chicken.

even funnier was trying to see my 20 lb dog grab ahold of one. that stupid SOB just ran around in circles for 10 minutes with a bloodthirsty dog trying to fit his mouth around that shell.

I was 16. I grew up.

Many moons ago, we found one digging in the side of a riverbank while we were tubing by. I pulled that sucker out by the tail & flung him halfway across the Guadalupe river. A few minutes go by, and there is no sign. Oh well. I went back to sucking down Lone Star Lights.

Then all of a sudden the little sucker launches out of the water near the bank like a Trident Missile. I swear his tail was rotating like a propeller & his feet were running before he hit the ground. In a split second he scaled a sheer bluff that would make a mountain goat nauseous. Never seen anything like it. True story bros.

My single shot 28ga closed a bunch of 'em out back in the day.
