My folks are some what close to the area, they are in ezzell some high wind and lots of water. They are with out power (Gvec) since yesterday around noon. I'm not sure how much help that is sorry!

Yeah, back when that was made things were trolling pretty good around here
My sister and family's house in Magnolia is taking on water for the third time in two years after never being flooded. They are on a trib of Spring Creek and house is pretty high up but there is just nowhere for the water to go. Prayers for everyone dealing with this.

Hoping for rain is not hoping for a catastrophic hurricane and flooding event. I understand a lot of our friends, family, and even posters on this thread are going through something awful, and so people are going to direct frustrations somewhere.
But hoping for an end to a drought does not equate to hoping for a category 4 hurricane that then decides to stall over a major metropolitan area.
I try not to post things from Facebook but the KHOU studion flooding and these people catching fish in their living room seem worth it.

This. Nobody wished for rain of this magnitude, just like nobody wishes for an endless drought we had only a couple years ago.
Perhaps we should try preparing for the worst and wishing for the best.

We've had about a 30-45 minute relief of rain here in Katy/Cinco area.

Mandatory evacuation in Brazoria County: West Columbia, Brazoria, Jones Creek, Sweeny, and other areas south of highway 6 and west of highway 288. Does not include Angleton, Lake Jackson, Clute, Freeport, or Richwood.
Last August in Louisiana many people with boats rescued neighbors. They took things into their own hands.
That's heart breaking.
I can imagine a scenario where evacuations are ordered because Harvey is coming back in off the coast and no one can evacuate because of the flood waters.

If waters can go down. The problem if, and probably always was.. Is that most major roadways have flooding in some spots, so it's not like there are clear routes to move people at large volumes.
Maybe some short distance movements but this storm is truly unique for a reason. No good answer for anything.

That is difficult though--where would evacuees go? Houston is such a large population, and with so many highways closed already and gas stations out of gas, would large groups of people be in even greater danger? Do they have enough shelter locations set up for that?

Wishing didn't make this happen but folks tend to forget that there are real consequences to these storms. I get it, its dry in central texas and they need rain but there were folks giddy at the chances of tropical activity solving their problems. I am not blaming anyone but it's always rubbed me wrong to see folks hoping for a storm. If y'all cant understand that then I just can't help you.
