I think what they're saying is the weather is the equivalent of Katrina which may be true.
However, the damage and devastation won't be. Luckily this part of Texas is relatively unpopulated. Katrina happened in major metro area that is a bowl sitting below sea level.
So while it may be the same conditions as far as strength, rainfall, etc, the damage won't be comparable.
