You should just stop talking.

Why? There are almost just as many scenarios where it doesn't turn right at us.

Yeah, it's gonna rain. But as far as catastrophic stuff, I'm thinking that has a good shot of not happening.

Can I not give my opinion? Sorry to offend you..

Weather Channel can be beyond ludicrous at times. Dude in Corpus just reported on a bird nest that was blown out of a tree.

Just out of curiosity, what is leading you to this thought? As far as I know, there hasn't been anything to indicate that any of the projections are weakening.

Houston isn't going to get anything much more than TS-force winds, but we're lined up to get a biblical amount of rain, and it's not like it takes a whole lot of rain to start flooding the city.

Because we aren't getting serious rain unless it takes that hard right turn after landing. That's anything but a certainty
i'm not sure what you are looking at that makes you thing that it needs to make a "hard right turn" to bring the rain to us...

Why don't you just refute anything I said?

What I said is true. This "biblical" amount of rain is based on a projection that literally every weather person is labeling as "still a lot of uncertainty".

I don't get why what I said is such a big deal. Sensitive folks I guess.

I'm not trolling. But I'll stop posting that thought because I'm not here to disrupt the thread. Sorry guys.

Because people turn to this thread for updated information and trust it because of some of the posters here being respected weather people. To toss something like "nothing is going to happen in Houston" is moronic at best and trolling most likely. Houston floods with a six inch rainfall over a day and we're looking at between 12-20" over a few days. That is a recipe for disaster.

You're either trolling or you haven't seen the models.

This is no time to troll.

Here are the models updated at 11:00 today. It's probably going to make landfall, dump rain for two days, then move back offshore, re-strengthen, and head towards Houston. I guess you're betting on the purple line.

without getting into agree or disagree, the reason people get so worked up is because people ignoring forecasts because 'it might be a bust" is why a lot of people die in these events when they aren't a bust. and beyond that staying behind in spite of forecasts and evac warnings puts first responders at risk.

Fair enough. We just want to make sure you're taking this storm seriously. On the weather channel their hurricane expert said Houston "Could get a couple feet of rain". That will be very, very bad.

National Hurricane Center disagrees with you and, with all due respect, I tend to trust them over your gut. Looking like real potential for a rebound / tropical storm into Houston at current time.

Here is the track of Hurricane Flora in 1963. It hit Cuba as a Cat 3 hurricane.

It dumped 60" of rain on Jamaica, 100" on Cuba, and killed over 7000 people. The hurricane meandered over Cuba for 4 days. Does the track look similar to a lot of the current models?

I am legitamatelty starting to get scared for what this thing will do to Houston. I cannot even fathom people living and staying in Corpus. I'm praying for everyone. Those displaced already, people traveling, rescuers, and just everyone. I can't put into words the fear I have for those trying to ride it out. God be with you all.

They kept it as a 2.

While I suppose technically accurate, they should have upgraded to a 3. People in the danger area are going to hear that it's still a two and think less of it. They should have upgraded due to the urgency around the wind and flooding situation if nothing else.
