I don't think you can disable it on PC. On mobile I think you swipe up or right.

Very calm and sometimes blue sky. I went thru one in 81 (?) - Hurricane Allen. The eye was certainly surreal.

I rode my bike out in the neighborhood checking out the damage.

The weather service needs better terminology for storm surge as it does not convey that that is the base water line and does not include waves which in a major storm are high.

The sudden wind shift after the eye is what killed tons of people in the 1901 Galveston hurricane. The wind was pinning the water up on one side of the bay and when it shifted boom, a sudden 6-10 foot wall of water.

Had a real emotional talk with my dad today. They are pinned down with some cattle in Victoria and I am in El Campo with my cows. But we will likely lose all those we fought for two years to save if forecasts hold. It's just not worth our lives to risk the roads.

Guess every farmer/rancher has to be humbled by their first total loss. This will be mine.

Been through three eyes in my 35 years, Alicia I don't remember, a cat 1 in Pensicola (can't recall name) and Ike. Each time it was one of the most bizzare moments of nature I can ever remember. Like being in a sound proof room with beautiful weather all around while knowing just outside is a chaotic war zone.
