What about a fly that works?

growing up it was always weird to me how (for creek run sandies) some days you had to go yellow/chartreuse and some days white. if you missed the color you didn't catch a thing, same creek, different day. beetle spins were good too, but same color rules applied.SMC Flex said:
Lake in may - slab
River in march - roadrunner
Only colors you need are white, yellow or chartruse
This is very true. One of my most memorable days of fishing as a young kid....fishing on the Leon River with my dad, on one particular day, the chosen color was pink. Nothing was working for me, or anyone else lining the bank. Just a few being caught here and there. I had one unopened package of pink crappie jigs. I tied one on and started catching them like crazy, while every one else around me hardly caught anything at all. I could tell everyone else was wondering why a 13 year old kid had more than every other person there. I gave several away to people nearby and then they started catching them.California Ag 90 said:growing up it was always weird to me how (for creek run sandies) some days you had to go yellow/chartreuse and some days white. if you missed the color you didn't catch a thing, same creek, different day. beetle spins were good too, but same color rules applied.SMC Flex said:

made for good taunting among brothers when one of us didn't have the color of the day. we could extract lots of chores from each other in return for a color match.
