I wanted to get the outdoor boards opinion;

A friend mentioned Craigslist as an avenue to find a deer lease. The people I have spoken with that have listings seem to have huge tracks where they allow multiple hunters to pay for "memberships". Do any of y'all have experience with these kinds of places? Also, I see a lot of adds for people "searching" for a lease. Does this work? I have never used Craigslist for anything, so I am in the dark.

The owners of my south Texas place are getting really old, and once the kids take over, I'm pretty sure we are going to be out. I'm looking to be proactive, so I'd appreciate any feedback to my questions. Thanks.

I know that Craigslist has some pretty good deals on toolboxes from time to time...

Checked one out. The rule was no stand within 200 yards of another stand, and it would have been difficult to comply with. The camp area looked like a terrible trailer park. Needless to say, I passed.

Craigslist is where you go for a $75 beer fridge. I'd be weary of something I'm going to spend thousands on

I've had good success with day/weekend hunts on CL but not season leases

Might give this a try if you haven't already.

Two words gents: quiet enjoyment

I'm assuming you have a lease contract. Get a clause in there that the lease runs with the land and even if they sell you get to keep the lease until the term is up. Of course, this means you've got to commit to a multi-year lease.

We're working on extending our south Texas place, but it might be out of our hands. The landowners have had some serious health issues of late, and the heirs are already fighting each other over the scraps. We'll see. The Craigslist stuff looks shady to me, but I just wanted to see if any of you had used it.

Buddy of mine booked a pig hunt out by sweetwater a few years back. Showed up friday after lunch. Land owner was a freegin toothless creep and he had a freegin toothless creep budy around. The lodging was less than 5 star to say the least. We payed up and i put and x on his release form he wanted us to sign. The land owner and his bud hung around. They proceeded to drink our beer and it was clear they werent leaving. I asked my bud where he found this outfit and he said craigslist. Wtf??!?? We asked them if they lived out there and they so no. We were not going to hang with them as the merrited all of our attention. There was 6 of us and the land owner had quite a bit of our cash so we politically asked them to scram or we would be taking our money back. They agreed to leave. We got a few pigs that night and i slept in my truck with my glock 21 on my chest.

Next morning we went for a walk and found a old concrete circle tank with wooden stairs up the side. The tank was dry and there was only a well used mattress in the bottom of it. There was also what i quickly convinced myself were blood and other stains on the inside walls of the tank. We bailed out stat. had to cut the lock off the gate when we left. Never heard form the land owner again.

That was my first and last expereince with craigslist.

That story damn near warrants its own thread!
