Anyone have experience with Game Winner brand waders? Are they worth buying? Going on my first duck hunt and need some waders asap.

Those will be fine, but I think you'll be pretty hot in them. I've gotten to the point where I wear breathables 90% of the time. The neoprenes are hot, heavy, and have an awkward fit.

I've got these Magellan breathables and I've put them through 2 duck seasons and many different river trips in the mountains without any issues with them so far.

I hunted a frozen lake in New Mexico last year in breathables and was fine. Super thick thermal underwear layered under sweatpants.

I tried out a pair of their hybrid's. Leaked on the first trip so I took them back. The concept is interesting, but if they leak they are useless.

Stick with cabelas or name brand if you expect to get more than a season of real hunting.

I also agree that breathables are nice. Mobility is much better. You can layer up as needed underneath and they aren't nearly as bulky. Only time I bring out the heavy neoprene is if i know I will be standing in deep below freezing water for hours.

I'd highly recommend the hybrids so that you don't have neoprene all the way up to your shoulders. We've hunted 2-3 times in the 3 pair that we bought and really like them so far. No issues at all.

I borrowed a pair of the GW breathable waders during teal season and they were pretty nice. I wore my normal insulated waders for the first time in a year this last weekend... they leaked. Since they're out of warranty, I replaced with the Game Winners. I went with breathable since that's all they had in my size, but I may keep my eyes out and return them for a pair of the hybrids.

Either way, I fully intend on getting in a bathtub or swimming pool to test them out. I hate getting to the field only to sit in there with cold wet feet.

Thanks for all the input. Am going to stop by academy tonight and see what they have left. Excited about a duck hunt. First time hunting anything in years and years.

I've been wearing insulated neoprene GW waders for the last 4 seasons. Haven't had one issue with them. They are hot though, especially this morning when it was 72 in Red River County.

Am a big fan of my 5mm gw waders. Going 4 seasons without a leak

One more thing to consider. Will you be walking through much mud? Neoprene boot waders are a huge pain in the ass in mud.

They are really warm. I only wear boxers and a pair of socks because anything else is too hot. It's a pain in the butt to get the boots off

Very warm... bought some during the sale posted on here a while back. They are heavy and very hard to walk through mud in, but they keep you dry and warm.

I just bought a pair last week and waded around for a few hours. Pretty hot but I liked them. Only problem was they wore a hole in the side of my leg where the boot is. A seriously terrible blister, so I would wear some really high socks.

Mine did this the first time I wore them too. It's from the boots being packing in the box so tight. Once you wear them a few times, the top of the boot takes shape and doesn't rub on the sides of your legs so much.

Got my waders this weekend. Just got out of the tub wearing them. No leaks. Ended up getting the breathable in real tree max 5.

Fianc got s size too big and shelves are clean so I couldn't exchange, but when I put clothes under they're fine.

I'm worried they leak. I tried them out in a pool first and small bubbles were coming from the same spot on both sides of me. Wore them for the first time this morning and they were good, no major leaks, but after standing in timber for about an hour and then sitting in a chair for an hour, my butt was damp. Not soaking wet, but not sure if they leaked or what it was. They're pretty heavy compared to my last cheap pair of game winners, but they're a lot thicker too.

Try storing with pint paint cans in the tops of the boots
