At the Electric Utility I work at, we approved these gloves in Standards for our Lineman to wear when they do work on the ground. The Lineman love these things and the hold up to Lineman abuse. They are ANSI 5 cut resistant gloves tough as nails and feel great. I have many pair at home and I use them for everything including clearing brush. They even wash and let them hang drive. There are similar manufacturers that make the same type of glove, this just is one of the approved manufacturers we put on our specs. Should be able to find them online or at any safety equipment type store.

I bought a pair of Magpul ranch gloves this past summer and while I haven't put them to the ultimate test, they've held up very nice.

HF sells black disposable nitriles. Not the thing for swinging an ax/but handy to keep in the truck

I have had the usual through the years, brown jersey, buck skin, and the rough cut leather. I picked up a pair of these kobalt gloves from Lowes and they have been good for the garden, and my French press.

Their cloth back will breathe and they fit pretty well for dexterity.

You ever built or torn down a barbed wire fence? Or clear mesquite from a fenceline?

I see. I never got past the first few posts on that thread.

I now understand why so many people on this board hunt high fence places with big fancy lodges, and only hire full service guides when they leave home. It's not because they're lazy and don't want to put in work. It's because they can't live without their french press, fancy ass coffee that they drink from their tiny china cups with their little pinky sticking out...

JeebusChrist what a bunch of weirdos. Put some damn black folgers coffee in a mug and go hunt. You do know if you put coffee grounds in water and boil it then *voila*, coffee. It doesn't require K cups, electricity, french presses, etc. Water. Coffee. Heat. That's it.

Can you imagine reading GatorAg's Alaska hunt thread and picture him saying, and after I dumped my raft and 1000 pounds of bison into the frozen river I climbed onto the bank, put on my driest wool clothes and then immediately dragged out my french press to make some mocha pecan pinon coffee so that I could get my wits about me!

HELL. NO.
Maybe if you could experience a fine cup of coffee, you wouldn't be so cranky.

True. Because when you s**t your pants it makes for a long day of hiking.

There is zero reason to **** your pants on a backpack hunt. You can **** anywhere

If you've ever had a problem from long term work without gloves.... You'd wear'em
If you've ever come home and it's painful to unbutton your pants or unzip your zipper... You'd wear 'em...
If you've ever busted your ass wearing gloves, you figure out real quick that the older you get, you're glad you busted your ass when you were younger so you don't have to wear them anymore, lol...

I go to Costco and by the 3 pack when I need them. Good gloves for the price

I honestly do not like running a chainsaw with gloves on. Even cutting below 0, I don't like losing the dexterity and changes vibration.

Now I do like cut resistant gloves when butchering.

I've got a couple pair like that. I cut the fingers off and I use them quite a bit. Especially for shoveling, hoeing, things with a handle. I get most of my blisters in the crook of my thumb/hand. this solves that and I don't have to take them off for anything.

These are available at my local Costco. Keep one pair on the atv, one in the truck, and one in the garage.

Yep. I'm all about not wearing gloves for dexterity and there is nothing I hate more than pulling barbed wire or clearing blackberries , huisache and poison ivy from fence lines and then having to take them off because I need some fine work done. But there is just no reason to be stupid about it.

There is a fine line between manliness and flat out stubborn dumbass. I even now wear rubber gloves for brake work and oil changes or cleaning carbs using all that nasty solvents that cause cancer in California and stuff.

My Carhartt fencers glove are not terrible but a week of barbed wire is not nice to then. But...It's barbed wire.

My rule for work gloves is that I only buy gloves that fit so that I can also wear them quail hunting to keep mesquite and cactus bites to a minimum and still work the safety on my side by side. That leaves them pliable enough to be able to be able to work chainsaw and weedeater. I wear them on the tractor and running any hand tools, too. If I need more dexterity I just pull them off. Not rocket science...it is hard to run a Garmin Alpha with gloves but you dont mind taking them off from time to time if it means you are constantly worried about having to get the Leatherman out to remove assorted thorns.

I don't care for the big fingers of most "work gloves" so I usually year the "mechanics style" gloves from Hone Depot or Lowes. They have a synthetic leather palm and tingertips, and the fingers fit snugly.

And yes, I run fenceline, handle mesquite and guajillo, drive tractors and doctor cattle... and don't use a damned French press.

Has anyone usedown a good pair of oiled canvas gloves? I just purchased a awesome oiled canvas jacket for work around the land and riding horseback. It's 100% water and wind proof.

Thought maybe a good pair of the oil canvas gloves would work.

Marry Christmas!
