Won't have silencer in for a while so I am looking at the 110-147grain bullets for now and then 208-220 when the can gets here.

Intended use is hog hunting and having as a SHTF gun. Will likely have red dot scope on it, so doubt I shoot passed 100yds.

Looking to get a lot of ammo but also something that's reliable and fairly accurate.

What's your favorite for sub and supersonic?

All feedback is appreciated!

I use the 110 gr V-max, it's been good to me so far.

110gr black tips are the way to go for supers.

I run them exclusively. Picture below isn't mine, but I've actually had better expansion in deer than the pictures show. They're also pretty quiet suppressed. I don't hunt with subs.

I have a Form 1 in process for a SBR. I've been buying the regular white box Remington UMC 220g OTFB and the yellow box Remington 220g OTM (Subsonic). Because my rifle is still in various parts, I've not been able to test either.

The Mighty Google tells me these are essentially the same in performance, just different bullet design. I'm hoping that is correct since I've gotten "a few" boxes of each, but more of the UMC since it runs $5 a box cheaper. Best price I've seen (when they have it) is Cabelas @ $17.99 per box. Someone with expericence, please chime in about the differences if there are any.

I also have various no boxes of supersonic in the 115-120g variety, but no idea about their performance either.

Unfortunately the Rem 220 gr does not look to perform that well.

If you are considering using sub sonic for hunting, check out the 194gr Lehigh defense maximum expansion.

They are expensive, so I haven't used them without my suppressor that ought to be here in a few weeks. Depending on how it shoots in my gun, I plan to load some of these up to help mitigate the cost.

As far as supersonic goes, I will echo the 110 grain Barnes bullet above.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like I'll get another "few boxes" of LehIgh or Barnes for hunting/home defense and use is to shoot paper and steel

I've done a little reading on these - It looks like they require a 1-7 barrel to stabilize. Would be concerned with baffle strikes in a 1-8 or higher.

Haven't really found a good expanding subsonic bullet in 300BLK. For accuracy, I've had good luck with the Hornady Custom loads running the 208 grain AMax. Accuracy is very good out of my Remington/AAC Model 7 (762SDN6) and Ruger American Ranch (30PSS) rifles. On pigs I choose my shots - go for the ear. Don't have to worry about expansion.

On the supersonics - I've got a load that runs a 125 grain ballistic tip that works good in both my AR and bolt guns.

I'll be using the Remington UMC supers for shooting fun because of availability and I'll buy a box or 3 of the 110gr Barnes Vor-Tx for hogs.

Can you show me the links? This is disheartening.

I use Freedom Munitions 208 A Max load.

It's very quiet. Accurate enough. I've had a few misfires with my Remington bolt gun. None with my DD M4.

I picked up a box of the Leigh ammo at my LGS - had a big sticker on it with the "1-7 warning". Also read an article/review online after seeing the box.

Will see if I can find the link again and post up.

Just did some research on Baffle Strikes - yikes!

Some guys appear to have destroyed their cans within the first 20-30 rounds. That would suck.

I'll make sure to do my research before I take mine out.

It looks like the Barnes TSK and TTSX are the "go to" bullets for serious 300blk hunting and defense. The Lehigh Defense controlled chaos looks great though. I have both and will be doing an accuracy test before I go hog hunting in west texas in a few months. Ill be shooting both to see how they do.
IMHO, re the 300blk, speed kills and the 115gr bullets seem to be the way to go to inflict the most damage.

That's frustrating. Their website shows 1:8 as a minimum.

This is what a baffle strike looks like...

I believe the ammo I saw loaded with the Lehigh 194 grain bullet/1-7 warning label was manufactured by Beck Ammunition . Will check when I get home tonite.

Here's another way to look at things regarding hunting with 300BLK subsonic.

A 45 Auto round travels around 950 fps +/- with a 230 grain projectile
A 300BLK subsonic round travels around 1,000 FPS +/- with a 200 to 230 grain projectile.

So using the 300BLK subsonic is kinda like hunting with a 45 auto pistol.....

I've had success (hogs) with 300BLK subsonic inside 100 yards when I can take a clean head shot. DRT.
A center of mass shot will only punch a 30 caliber hole through whatever you're shooting....

I've also had success (hogs) out to 150 yards using supersonic/125 grain loads - 1 shot into heart/lungs. DRT.

Anyone ever do any business with Ozark Ordinace?

They have a good deal on some 110gr reman with Hornady bullets.

Looking at Remington UMC 220 for subs but LAX ammunition has a good deal on some reman 208gr with Hornady bullets.

So what's the consensus on twist rate? I have a 8.5" 1/8 twist barrel. I bought a Silencer Co Omega back in May for it and for my 6.8. I read thru Silencer co's website but didn't see anything mentioning required twist rates. If I use subs in my SBR am I going to have to change the barrel to a 1:7 to avoid baffle strikes?

Shot Hornady A-Max 208gr and Rem 220gr suppressed with the 8.5" Noveske 1:7 barrel over the weekend. The Hornady was noticeably quieter than the Rem. I need to reload some 220gr SMKs to see if I can get it even quieter with a slightly reduced powder charge. Gonna be fun toying with the loads.

Sorry - got distracted. Had a chance to go back an look at the Lehigh Ammunition site regarding the Lehigh 194 grain. Here's the comment from their website regarding twist rates

Not recommened for use in factory Remington 700 rifles chambered in 300 Blk.

Not recommended for use in factory Remington 700 rifles chambered in 300 Blackout due to a number of factory guns sold with barrels marked as 1:7 twist that are actually 1:10 twist.

Were I got confused - In addition to my AR and Ruger Ranch, I have a Remington 700 rifle in 300BLK with a 1:7 twist barrel.

Sorry for the confusion - regardless, you need to be aware what of what you are shooting through your rifle to make sure it is compatible with the ammo you're shooting.

Dunbar, FIDO, or anyone else used those 110gr Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos Rounds?
It looks comparable to a Barnes ballistically, but I want to know if it is consistently accurate.

I have not.

I dont think ive ever done an accuracy test on the lehigh ammo. I can do one but I have a red dot on my blackout. Wont be pinpoint. However, I can say they are pretty lethal. Took some hogs this past weekend and a yote back in january.

I ended up going with the CTD 208gr AMax for subs and 110 freedom munitions Vmax for supers.

The CTD arrived today and the freedom shipped today after ordering Thursday night.

Thanks!
