I totaled my car on that same stretch of road. Trailer with equipment parked in the middle of the road at 10pm with zero lights. I had USAA and they covered everything like they did yours. Once they got the police report with the fact it was the trailer guys fault they handled it with the other insurance company.

USAA and it's not even close. Most insurance companies go out of their way to try to keep from paying, USAA ponies up and tries to help the member. Think about that, you are a member at USAA, not a number.

I'm split. I've shopped around a bit over the years, but end up back at USAA for the price and service.

I've got USAA on my Cars and the rental property I own with my brother.

I use American Family on my Homeowners as USAA was almost double. After the big Co Springs fires our rates went crazy.

USAA also doesn't directly insure Motorcycles and boats so I'm through with Progressive though USAA on those two, still need to figure out what to do about the camper van as it's not legally an RV and still insured as a Van.

Can't complain about any of them, as I've never had to file a claim with American Family. I've had multiple claims with USAA on the rental as Texas weather sucks, and lastly my car was hit, by a Progressive insured driver and it was fairly painless. Though I've yet to file for diminished value as it was a brand new car.

All that said, I've always been treated very well by USAA. Even though don't like the contractors they have sent us in DFW, I blame my brother for putting up with them as he's the one who lives in state.

If you look at Net Promoter Score (how likely a customer is to recommend a business to a friend, family member or colleague,) USAA wins in both home and auto and it is not even close.

I have been a member since I was 16 years old. When my wife moved in with me (prior to our engagement and marriage,) we were able to add her as a cohabitant. Every single claim I have had (admittedly, not too many over the last 26 plus years) has been paid within days and without hassle.

Unless something radically changes in the future, I don't even plan to shop them. I am willing to pay for the level of service they provide me, including banking services (which are free.)

Oh, and they insure my guns too...
All the God's, all the Heavens, all the Hells are within you.

Will never do business with State Farm again. Had multiple properties, vehicles, and liability insurance with them and they really tried screwing me on a couple of relatively small claims. Haggled with them on the first one. Took them to court on the last one and won. They lost a customer for life.
I did some research and one company stood out regarding low rate of claims complaints to the state and they had a more suitable policy for my needs. That was twenty years ago. I have had a couple of roofs to replace due to hail as the only claims and they have been outstanding. AMICA.

That said if I had to choose between State Farm and USAA , USAA would get my business.

We have usaa for homeowners and have filed 1 claim (tornado and hail through town. I don't believe any property was 100% spared). They were great with my getting out and assessing damage, and cutting the check.
2 years later my policy is 1200 more per year than it was before.
We found cheaper auto with comparable service with progressive.

They are great for banking and loans, but their insurance prices consistently rise. Also, I live in a rural type area, not close to really anything major. I have had issues with usaa not being able to send someone out for an extended period.

Thanks for all of the quality replies, and for your offer Brian. I think we're going to stick with USAA for now and reevaluate whenever a little one enters the picture and the budget has to be adjusted.
