I think dragon flies are my favorite, and edit, I was wrong about ant lions being their larva.

This is not really correct, but probably just a miss ID.

dragonfly larvae are fully aquatic, and while they are themsleves cool and vicious predators much like antlion larvae, they aren't the same.

Adult dragonflies are masters of flight and aerial acrobatics, adult antlions have some of the laziest flight pattern and strength in the insect world, more similar to a butterfly.

They do look a lot like adult dragonflies though, almost always smaller and slimmer, and more noticeable antennae.

Mud daubers are pretty cool. They imprison live spiders to feed their larvae. Here's a shot of a broken nest in my backyard.

I have to pick two, mostly due to me finding out the hard way as a kid which of these was actually poisonous...LOL.

Thought Wooly Bears were poisonous (and also thought these were called Asps)


Found out by sitting on one, that these are the real poisonous Asps!
