Going to try Snow's out in Lexington for the first time this Saturday, have any of yall had it before? I was wondering what time to get there at. I see they open at 8AM and I'm worried I'm going to run into a Franklin's like line. Any tips/suggestions would be appreciated

Try calling them today. I know that several years ago you could call ahead of time and pre-order their "sampler" plate or something like that. It got you all the meats, etc. and you could just go day of and pick it up. I don't know if they still do it, but if I recall, you either had to call by Wednesday or Thursday to order.

I've only been once, and there was a 5 minute wait when I got there around 9:30. When I left around 10:30 there was probably a 30 minute wait. Not bad if you're used to Austin joints.

Went over spring break, showed up at 9:45am and waited about 20 mins. Very good!

It varies for wait time. It doesn't stay consistently long. The one must is getting there no later than 10:30. Any later and you start missing out on food.

Highly recommended! We've always called ahead and picked it up but I don't know how common that is. They do tend to sell out well before noon most days, I doubt you'd be looking at more than 30-45 min wait if you get there 9-10am

Watch this before you go. I'm sure RTIC will have something similar in a week or so.

Last time we went, we got there about 10AM. Waited about 20 minutes, got a free beer. They were out of chicken by then., but the rest was great.

Way too early, sleep in a little. Like previously said: 9-9:30 is early enough. Last time when I went was closer to 10 and they still had some of everything and that was when they were still #1 by texas monthly before Franklin's took over.

Do y'all eat the BBQ at places like Snows, Franklin's, etc at 9:30-10 in the morning? Or do you take it home for later? Seems awfully early for a gut of BBQ, and seems it would lose some of the flavor and goodness sitting out for a few hours waiting for lunch.

I was planning on taking a plate home for lunch and bringing tortillas, cheese and salsa for some brisket breakfast tacos for the ride home

I've never been here but my parents only live about 25 min away -- I'm going to have to go check it out

Well at Franklin's you are only going to be eating at some point during normal lunch hours. They dont open and start serving until 11:00 so even if you are the first person in line at like 7, you will be waiting. Get there at 10? you probably wont eat until 1 or later.

Snows is a little bit different since they start serving earlier but yeah if I picked up food from there at 10 or whatever, I'd eat it right there.

Time can vary. When I'm in town and drive by on my gator, folks can be lined up 50 deep at 8am or only 10. Depends upon how many hipsters have the craving for the LeeCo goodness. Never understood eating bbq before 11am.

Never been to franklins nor will I ever go. So take it for what's it's worth, but tootsie makes the best brisket in the state. Being a displaced local, we usually buy at the pit and take it home. I've strolled up as late as 12:30 after the food tourists have left and been able to buy brisket and ribs. Granted, it was slim pickings.

Both times I went, I got there right about 8. Waited about 15 min, ate it right then with some beers.

I'm not the type to wait in line all day for food and I love brisket for breakfast.

Y'all know the bbq was being sold at 8am to provide the local cattlemen grub for working on a Saturday so their spouses wouldn't have to cook on a sale say, not to have it for breakfast.

Most of the locals I know will go have breakfast at the sale barn down the street, call Kerry and have him put some aside for them, then come by about 12-12:30 and eat.
