I know this is a strange topic, but my nephew is playing a playoff game in Groesbeck this Friday night and I'm curious if there are any decent places to eat between 1960/45N and Groesbeck. Anything around Buffalo or Centerville? Thanks.

Sam's Restaurant in Fairfield is a traditional stop for the family.
It is a large, home style buffet.
Our family place is in Donie, Texas. There is nothing there. So, once you leave 45 you will be hungry until you get to Groesbeck.
Buffalo has a few fast food places but nothing memorable.

And I just reread your original post and saw you said you are going Friday. Well, Friday is fried catfish day at Sam's and the fried catfish on that buffet is honest to God the best I have ever had.

Leona General Store will have the best steak you've ever had. I grew up a few miles away and have eaten there too many times to count.
Sams is dang good. Used to go there a few times a year when I lived and coached in Groesbeck.

This was my first thought. Fairfield is kinda out of the way. Billy B's Sale Barn Cafe on 164 is awesome.
You're going way out of your way to eat at Sam's in Fairfield if the game is in Groesbeck. The food may be good, but it's not that good. I would eat at the Sale Barn in Groesbeck or the steak house in Leone before I would drive to Fairfield. Just my $0.02.....

Leona general store is good but be prepared for a long wait. There is a new place in Buffalo called Ernies Pharm. It is located on Hwy 79 about a mile east of the IH 45 on the south side of the highway. Good menu and good steaks. I would suggest here for a good pre game dinner.
Farm House Cafe in Huntsville is pretty awesome.

If you're going to stop in Madisonville, Rancho Viejo on the square is the place to go.

I like Smokey Mo's bbq in Conroe. Same outfit out of round rock and cedar park. Good fast and cheap
