Saw them the other day at academy, looked nice and obviously a knock off, but had same warranty etc, wondering if anyone has any experiences with them. Substantial price difference obviously, and I can just buy my yeti hat, sticker, and a shirt separately and still save money.

So now that academy can produce them...we should expect prices to drop soon

While it will probably work, I expect these to sell about as well as a Columbia shirt vs a Magellan shirt.

I don't like all the exposed metal parts but it prolly keeps stuff cold.

They had one at my local Academy. I really did not like the rubber latches.

I like my Magellan shirts

I actually prefer Magellan shirts to Columbia. Columbia makes me look like Leisure Suit Larry.

As do I, but Columbia still outsells Magellan.

Looked at one in my local Academy the other day. Was really excited at first due to the much lower price than a Yeti but like other posters said, I didn't like the latch system either.

Whoever makes that cooler, (igloo I think), was manufacturing the same one and branding it for Gander Mountain. Bought one last year when I found myself needing a cooler on a weekend hunting trip. Been a great cooler for the money IMO.

HEB has been selling their own brand of knockoffs for a few years. They are less expensive then Yeti but seem to have had no impact on the price of the big name brands.

Love my Pelican. Got it at Sam's but it's available elsewhere too.

+1 for Pelican also. Never had an issue, made in the Good Ole, best latches IMO and comprehensive lifetime warranty. Optics Planet typically runs 10-15% off sales, has free shipping and no tax. And as an added bonus, can get them in Aggie maroon ... got my 65, 95 and 150 in maroon and going to someday stencil the ATM on them (beveled of course).

$200 for a 50 qt. By comparison, a Yeti 50 qt is $379. Don't know about the quality of the Magellen, but they've definitely set a competitive price.

The two or three bad reviews all have to do with the lid warping. All of the other reviews say this product is fantastic. The lid appears fine, then warps in the sun, then straightens back out when it is out of the sun apparently. Two different reviews stated it that way.

Nothing better than buying the exact same product with a different tag for 50% less!

Magellan stepped their fabric game up big time this year the feel was the only thing keeping me with Columbia.
