Never seen them in creeks. They like shallow flats, either big water or small tanks. They are also a SUCKER for a mojo dove.

Looking to buy a pair of hip waders for a teal hunt. Looking at the LaCrosse Big Chief 32". For the Texas gulf coast area (i.e. El Campo), should I go with insulated or uninsulated? Understand that I don't need the insulation now, but would seem handy in cooler weather duck hunts. Just don't want to "burn up" in September though...thoughts?

if you plan on using them for the rest of duck season and dont want to buy 2, id go with insulated. its cold longer than hot. That said, im a cold weather wimp and would much prefer to be hot than cold

I would get a cheap pair of brown non insulated Magellan hip waders from academy for $30 and then get some actual full waders for winter. To me it's worth having both bc if you get a little water on you during teal season it's no biggie but you don't want that come December.

That's how I'm thinking about it as well. I could wear the insulated in Sept with shorts and use the insulation for warmth in the cooler months. Just looking for additional view points...

I'd advise agianst wearing shorts with hip boots.

It sucks if you get stuff down in them putting decs out.

I'm kind of country, but......... my choice for teal is just the short canvas wading boots, and insulated chest waders for cold weather. Personal preference, I don't mind getting wet for teal.

It's early season, brotha-man.

Only way to tell a drake from a hen at this time is through getting a little friendly with the cloaca.
