No one is enforcing it now. Guns are on campus now.

Whoop!
I am glad it passed. I know many were already carrying at A&M and now it will be legal!

So now what? Gotta pass the house too? go to conference committees a dozen times like open carry did? What's the next step?

Today the House was voting on the conference committee report. Yesterday, the Senate voted and passed the conference committee version of the bill.
quote:Best gun session we've had in a long time.
Yep. Open carry and Campus carry in one session.
They dragged it down until the very last day, but it got done.
Good session.

Great session.
Thanks to all who called and wrote. If you're not a member of TSRA, please fix that after this hell of a good session they gave us.

Don't forget knife preemption passed too. San Antonio can no longer make it illegal to carry a lock blade knife.

Open Carry (HB 910) and Campus Carry (SB 11) have both officially passed the House and Senate chambers with time to spare. They are now on their way to be signed by Governor Abbott. Once signed into law, Open Carry (HB 910) will go into effect January 1, 2016. Campus Carry (SB 11) will take effect September 1, 2015 for 4-year institutions of higher education, and August 1, 2017 for Community Colleges.
quote:I don't believe that's correct. SB11 takes effect on 8/1/2016 for all schools except community colleges. The original date was 9/1/15, but the conference committee changed that.
From the email my rep just sent me:

quote:The general populous are morons. KHOU's Facebook page is littered with comments about drunken gun fights and blood running through campus and freshman open carrying. It's obvious that none of them have actually read the bills or analysis of either.
All the "crying" moms on twitter with their "hysterics" really make me laugh. Same for the "faculty" who are threatening to leave the state or calling for "bullet proof" vests before they head back to the classroom.

Sometimes this session when I was watching the Legislature I kept thinking to myself "Who votes for these absolutely incompetent stupid ********?"
Then I read news comments sections and get reminded exactly who votes for them.

Can universities still prohibit employees/professors/etc. from carrying like other employers?

I thought employers can't prohibit their workers without a 30.06 sign?
quote:That's not accurate. Employers can prohibit their workers with internal policy decisions. This internal policy does not apply to guests, customers, etc of the business unless a 30.06 sign is posted or the person receives verbal notice to vacate.quote:
